Recently I bought two more maschine extensions.

Very satisfied with the sound. But when I'm using it, I'm wondering why maschine can't input chords? Even band in a box can input chords.

So can't maschine produce music faster.

you mean in "midi step learn"? With an external controller?

like in the first seconds of this video:

    Yeah....it's a mystery...

Select a pad, push keyboard, insert notes in piano roll?

Yeah, I don't really understand the question. Do you mean you want to select from a list or button like "C#" then by pressing it have it output the MIDI notes associated with that chord? Then yes. To paraphrase @djadidai: Select a pad, push Chords button. Even better, if you pick the root note of the cord it will show you a bunch of other cords that are harmonious with it.

You can play chords with pads or external keyboard or chord mode.

You can record those live to a clip. In addition you can chose the arpeggiator in chord mode and choose from different rythm patterns.

Your instrument has to be polyphonic!

You may be right that you cannot do this within step mode. Never tried that with a polyphonic instrument.

Like other comments, I'm not really sure I understand what your problem is but I thought of this input method (in the first 20 seconds of the video) because it's the kind of stuff you CAN'T do (currently) with Maschine

    I mean like I type Am-F-G-C

Then I can generate a piece of music like this according to the style I choose to expand.

Then drag and drop into the DAW

Bass, drum, rhythm, riff, all fit this chord progression.

when I enter a chord progression.

Then this extension will be based on the style I choose (KITS)

    produce a piece of music.

Bass, drum, rhythm, riff, all fit this chord progression.

You're talking about traditional production music. I can.

But for more convenience. I would like to be able to directly input chords and generate music.

Do you know band in a box?

    oh... OK

so you need an arranger ๐Ÿ™‚

Maschine (hardware or software) is not intended to work like this.

(even a complex DAW like AbletonLive doesnt have this feature I think...)

Band in a box IS an arranger.

    I will compose myself.

However, I think MASHINE's extension is very popular and modern.

If this function is added, it will be more popular.

It would be a pity not to have this feature. Just some material. . .

I understand you my friend... and I might use such a feature myself.

But, honestly, Maschine already lacks so many basic functions as a sequencer... that I wouldn't askย for the functions of an arranger...

OK there was a time when products combined both worlds (see the Yamaha's excellent QY series... still without equivalent today...)

    Yes, it's actually auto-accompaniment.

Other auto-accompaniment content is more old-fashioned.

The extension of MASCHINE is very modern, but it does not implement automatic accompaniment.

I thought leaving a message here would encourage them to develop.๐Ÿ˜‹

Doubt that would be something they would add. IMHO that is kind of like saying you would like to be able to drive your Ferrari off-road sometimes. If you decided to spend a quarter of a million dollars on a high performance sports car, you COULD pay to convert the suspension to something more rugged and buy big knobby tires for better traction, but you'd be better off to just get an old Suzuki Samurai for the rare occasions you want to do go mudding. ๐Ÿ˜‰

As @swingmix said, that's what you can get for $50 from auto-accompaniment software. And there's nothing wrong with that. As a matter of fact I sometimes use Instacomposer like that as a plug-in for my Maschine to spit up a bunch of quick ideas.

I definitely would NOT agree with the statement that machine is bad at sequencing though! That's nutty. Unless you have a very different idea of what "sequencing" than I do.

The ones I use the most at the moment are just maschine drums.

Like I need a chord or accompaniment quickly

I use a band in a box output with maschine drums

Or I use DAW editing myself.

However, it is actually better that the maschine itself can input chords and then output.

Because, the expansion of maschine is very good. However, it feels like they are now limited.
