I blocked him. Waste of time. I'm frank and up front. Blunt, yes. Harsh... Maybe. However, there is nothing egotistical about "I spent $1,600+ on Hardware and Software, and I'd like a prompt response from the company who promised to support me." Sometimes, you are bumping up against Return Deadlines, and I have better things to do than be constantly annoyed by Forum Point Farmers responding nonsense to support threads, generating lots of useless notifications.

Yes, it's selfish. Customers looking for support have the right to be selfish. It is about them and the product & problem they have & face, not whether or not their posts make randoms on the forum feel warm and fuzzy.

The people calling others egotistical are often doing nothing but projecting. I don't pay that stuff no mind. When people completely fail to address the actual issue mentioned/being discussed and jump straight to character assassination, I block them immediately and move on. I don't even respond.

No one here is my friend, so no one should be expecting "friend treatment" from me. He needs to recalibrate his expectations.

I'm beyond computer literate. If I can't fix it, no one on this forum can. Any support thread I start is usually an attempt to get someone from NI to go and escalate the ticket because their Web Support is non-responsive.

I basically open the Bell, look for user names with an "_NI" postfix, and if there are none, I Mark All Read and move on.

In other cases, the issues is resolved off-forum, since they will see the thread and contact me directly - instead of posting back and forth in the forum. If the issue is resolved there, I usually don't go back to the thread... because the issue is resolved, and I prefer not to spend my days trawling forums.

I don't even read those other replies. There is practically no reason to do so.

Apart from that, I may comment in threads where I want to help get NI to prioritize certain bugs that I may be experiencing with the software... or weird directions they are taking with updates (Kontakt Ads, NA2 Bugs, Issues with Batch Installations, etc.). That is different a completely different (and unrelated) scenario, though. Commenting about an issue is not a support request, so I'm not generally there for someone to give me "workarounds" or "solutions."

About that part of 'friends', you are right in some way.

Just because you met someone friendly, that doesn't mean he or she is your friend by default.

It takes time to talk to other people if you want to have a bond with them.

From my point of view, I do consider some people to be friendly and supportive, and maybe protentional buddies, but again, it takes time.

It takes time to believe in each other to become actual friends.

As Slade from Teen Titans said: Patience. Trust is easy to destroy, but, it takes time to build.

Yeah, if someone is mad, let em get it out of their system. No one should be full of hatred, just let it out before you blow. A little steam never hurt anyone and you certainly can't talk to someone if their mad as hell about something. Especially if they are mad at you or a company you represent. I've had people mad at me around here over a simple common everyday semantical error on their part. All I said was: FM synthesis is like Additive synthesis, it takes a lot of setup to get some intricate sounds. If you've ever made an FM synth with Reaktor you'd know what I mean. However, modulating a simple fm operator is as simple as it gets. So guess what, one person argued that FM is not complex it's just an operator and then his friends joined right in. Now here's the kicker; I was talking about an entire ensemble and tried to explain that the ensemble itself is complex, and that I didn't mean a simple fm operator. So this went on for 5 days, I kept getting hassled because I wouldn't admit that I was wrong. You see, this guy was mad and all of his friends joined in, they accused me of coming into the forum, asking for help, then clamming up and refused to admit I was wrong. I found the behavior very strange. How can a person get so mad so quickly? Yeah, exactly, the whole thing extrapolated, the surprise came when I realized this person is not calming down even though I repeated over and over that I was talking about a complete FM synth, with 12 oscillators, that basically responded to the velocity of the incoming midi note. Things like volume, subtle de tuning, varying envelope generators all vary dependent on the key velocity. Not a single FM operator. It's very complex, yet I get accused of clamming up and refusing to admit I was wrong. I tell ya, the more I tried to explain their misinterpretation of what I was saying the worse things got. When our parents told us to mind our manners, well, let's put it this way; around here it's like a lot of people do have any manners. Like giving people the courtesy of listening to what they have to say.

Just let people blow off steam and be courteous by listen to them.

this is exactly what i am working on right now! ...my "Neptune" 😉

btw, i don't think that everyone would understand your example... i loved it, however, it is exactly how i like to speak too, with long examples and metaphors and all that jazz!

and its a fact, that for a barbarian, a poet will sound like a silly lunatic, while the only real lunatic is the barbarian of course...

    ...pleasure to read you! 👍️

    Hi @Matt_NI

Just wondering if there is any update on the changes you are implementing related to this thread?

    Cheers!

One possible 'spin off' appears as being that N.I. at least is "in the process of figuring out ways to make the 'reward system' 'even better' " !

It looks like new system is implemented and that all previous rating is reset now. Love the new options btw.

Hmm...well...I disagree in some ways, but I agree on the other ways.

I am okay with the Funny button, maybe something for relatable or exciting comments.

But I don't understand why changing the likes and insightfuls with votes.

This is not Reddit, this is NI Community site.

And what happened with Accepted answers?

I just hope this Community site won't lose its originality.

We're just rolling out a few tweaks now and as you noticed, it started with the reactions / Flag and reporting.

    1. We changed the reactions to allow vote up / vote down and funny. Essentially, vote up takes the place for Like / Insightful and vote down helps you flag content you don't align with. An important note about the vote down : once a comment gets X amount of vote down, it will be collapses and it will require a click to be read. This threshold has been set to 10 for now but we will monitor how it's being used and how it affects the discussions.
    2. We removed ABUSE from the Flag button.
    3. We changed the REPORTS and added "reasons" to help people flag the right thing to mods/admins.

Additionally, we are reviewing the rewards program and decided to pause it for the time being.

More to come and if you already have feedback on this, let me know.

What do you mean about accepted answers? We didn't touch that so it remains unchanged, unless there is an issue?
