NKS Development Discussion

Thanks - Arturia have released this now with official NKS as it is part of VColl X but strangely have not added NKS for Bank 2 yet themselves

If you are blind I can imagine it will be hard to use the TX16W/Cyclone plugin. Maybe someone can help you change the Performances and then resave as a new NKS file. The NKS will remember the Performance and you can just reload it with any Performance pre-loaded.

Perhaps that could work. But you also need to map the two available CC slots to something useful for each patch and resave it. I think I'll stick to regular midi mode and use CC if I ever need to automate something. But in the early 90's automation was almost unheard of outside of AT/PB/Mod.

Cool. The original TX16W was well known for its fat low end. I'm looking at you AKAI users, lol.
And I must say this plugin delivers. There is even a disk some Moog basses that I prefer over the latest Mini M VSTs. Go figure...
So just for ****** and giggles I dropped in some drums in Maschine and ran TX16W with Maschine's filter automated using samples from a MS-20. There is some real rawness here that I like. Very aggressive, if you are into that. Here is an 8bar mp3 as an example.

A new free synth: Noctua from Uvi and Venus Theory.
Looks interesting.
From the page: 'A hand-crafted collection of analog, organic, and synthetic sources, melding the sounds of contemporary scoring with a gritty cinematic edge '

I've started working on a template for this but let me know if anyone else is working on it as the last thing I want to do is spend the weekend (probably) on this and then find I'm duplicating someone else's work

I was going to do this, but I'll let you. I'll do the update to Vaults Bets and the new free Steinberg Tapped Vibes.

OK that's cool - I don't have those anyway

Just a thought, I have Falcon so would be doing the Falcon version but am I right that it wouldn't work for people who are just using the free UVI Workstation? So there might be a case for 2 versions? (which would be a pain)

I'll be doing a heap of UVI stuff soon as I use the subscription service to do the instruments and have approval from UVI to do NKS for their instruments.
There's some tricks and work needed to make the files Falcon/Workstation compatible and also backwards compatible with VST2, not so much of a thing needed these days but some people still use VST2 and it migrates to VST3 if done correct, however if you do it using VST3 alone then it is non migratable.

Thanks - oh well I have made the template with the VST3 for now as I don't use VST2 if I can help it (as I have to go into Rosetta to do so) - so it looks like if you also make NKS for this sometime down the line yours will probably be more universal which is all good :)

Both of these are done - very simple - will upload tomorrow once I'm not so tired, so I can double check for typos etc.

I use the free UVI Workstation. It has a free Falcon tour that just has a small number of presets, but they are very good. I tried to see if your VST2 Falcon preset that I also have in the WS F Tour would open and it said Falcon could not be loaded. I'll try Noctua as soon as you have it available.
