Someone please walk through how to load for example an 8Dio library in the Kontakt 7.7 interface?

I’m not going to write a whole tutorial on this topic, but at least I can give you some hints where to begin.

First of all, please note that there are now different „views“ available in Kontakt 7. By clicking on the „Library“ title located in the top menu, you can toggle between the „classic view“ (to which you might have been referring to when speaking of earlier KT versions) and the new „preset view“ (or call it as you like - it‘s new). The default view (one of these two mentioned options) in which KT7 will start up each time can be changed by entering the top/submenus „File / Options / Interface“ and then checking/unchecking the option „Display when launching new Rack View instances“. That should already give you a good starting point to investigate the GUI by yourself.

The next important thing to know is that NI has removed some menus and features from the plugin version (including the batch resave function you mentioned), that‘s why you should use the standalone version first to set up the libraries as you want them to appear. It‘s also good for any other maintenance or „import“ stuff (see below).

If you like, I can share with you how I implemented all my 8Dio libraries in KT7. First of all you have to „toggle“ the „Library“ menu again until you have the „preset view“ selected (which I was mentioning above). Locate the round „settings“ icon on the very left bottom area of the screen and press it. Choose „Custom Libraries“ in the new window that has just opened (it is selected by default first) and press the „ADD“ button at the bottom of this window. Then locate the top-most folder of your 8Dio library which is representing the top level folder of the library to be added to KT7. Simply find and select the proper folder in the appearing file browser. Congratulations, you have just added your first 3rd party library successfully to the list of directly selectable NKI-based KT7 presets.

While there will never be a related icon available for your new 8Dio product, especially in the „classic/rack view“, at least there‘s a chance to add a customized logo to the „preset view“ later, so that your 3rd party library will finally appear in the library list as if it was a „native“ one 😊.

But icons and tags are another story. They will enfold its full potential after involving KK (Komplete Kontrol) to the process. However, if you made it up to here already, I guess you‘re good to go using your library in KT7.
