Allen & Heath 23C + Traktor Pro 2 question

HI all,

I have just got round to setting up my new mixer Allen & Heath 23C with Traktor Pro 2.

I'm a little bit disappointed as there is no trim or extra input control/knob volumes for each channel on the mixer, I'm having to use the mouse to add or increase volume on traktor, which is annoying.

Can anyone suggest what I can do? Unfortunately I bought the mixer blind folded without checking it out first. I previously had a Xone:22 which had the additional trim volume controls, so I assumed the new version mixer would have them.

There are 4 input volume controls at the top of the 23C but those are only for turntables, etc.

I'm really disappointed with this mixer and might sell it. I only bought it as it had a built in HQ soundcard.

Thanks in advance.

Huh, I did not believe it. But yeah, seems like it can't control the gain from usb in.

You also can't record (Send master to computer) and use DVS at the same time. And Xone 43c is not produced any more.

I've just spoken to a technical guy at our local DJ Shop, and he is telling me that you can do some mapping on the traktor software to be able to use one of the 4 input trims at the top of the 23C mixer.

Anyone done this before or can point me in that direction please?

    Would be greatly appreciated.

Start by watching a few generic traktor mapping tutorials on youtube.

    For example

After you get the basics it should be relative simple. Add in.. -> mixer -> ??? something with gain?

Then "learn" and rotate the pod.

    Hey lord-carlos,

    Thanks for your posts.

I spoke to our local DJ shop again, and apparently you cant map the gain controls on the 23C due to no midi in the mixer! :|

They said i would need to buy the Z1 to adjust the gain externally! :|

This is a major flaw in the 23C! Aswell as having to manually solder the connectors for DVS!!

I will just have to use traktor to adjust the gains with the mouse for the time being.

What a pain in the backside!

    Thanks again.

I can record my mixes though with Audacity on Windows, I can select the 23C in the recording settings.

Yes, but then you can't do DVS. The 23c has some internal tip switches. It can only send 2 stereo channels back to the PC. Either the two inputs for DVS. OR master and .. send/return?

You can try to use auto gain in traktor. Maybe that will allow you to use less gain.

    Hi Lord-carlos,

Thanks again for your helpful posts, its greatly appreciated!

I haven't installed the DVS leads in the mixer yet. I wonder how simple this is to do? Does it involved any soldering?

Can i ask how you turn on auto gain on traktor please?

Any other tips you would recommend>? Is it possible to make hot keys on the keyboard to control the gain control in Traktor? I think I read something about this before, but after browsing through Traktor settings, i cant seem to find anything relating to hot keys.

    Thanks in advance.

Also, what will auto gain do? Will it automatically adjust the levels of track A and B so they are at the same volume levels?

I have not done the mod myself, but it looks rather simple:

    Autogain:

Under external mixing mode -> Enable auto gain

Yes, you can set up custom hotkeys in the controller manager. See the video I posted earlier about mapping.

    Thanks again Carlos.

Thanks for the video for the DVS, looks a bit fiddly, but will try and get it done at some point, as i want to connect by Technics SL1210's.

    Thanks again.
