    Hi Chris,

I tried several ways to make use of my right to return this not working device.

As acustomer that purchased the device I have the right within 14 days to cancel my order. NI is making it hard to make use of that right as I do not have any contact details to just cancel my order and get a full refund.

I don't want to go through a bunch of questions that are not related to my issue but I want to cancel my order.

Can you give me a phone no or email address where I can send my cancelation or can you fix this for me. I guess UPS will pick up the device first right?

So you'll never believe it - the update worked first time on a mac.

I'm really angry about thiis - @Chris_NI Please pass on to the team dealing with hardware, that this is really not the best experience, even for long-time users.

What should have been a really fun day has turned into hours of frustration. I would be amazed if this is not a wider issue for windows users, and it may be worth you investigating that if you aren't already.

I just received mine a couple hours ago while I was mowing the lawn and doing landscape maintenance so that I wouldn't have to do it this weekend. This week and next week is like an early Christmas for me...getting my KK S61 today and getting Cities Skylines 2 next Tuesday, whoohoo!

I just got the KK out of the box. It fell on my foot. No damage, my left big toe snagged a sinking line-drive in left field. My toe did it's job by catching the fly ball and it cushioned the KK, so no damage. Except maybe to that toenail that was gonna fall off anyway for a prior whacking it took (ouch). I'm thinking of buying steel-toed shoes this weekend. Probably should do that before I order anything heavy, like a Marshall stack or a new set of tools!

EDIT: I've read the other threads here. I have an M1 Mac, so maybe I'll fire up that machine for the update. But for now, I'm trying to figure out where the heck I'm going to put this work of art!

Guys! I understand you're angry but there's no way they didn't test this on Windows. I'm sure it works on Windows for people with other configurations.

Reminds me of when I carried a brand new Mac tower up some stairs.. (maybe 20 years ago?).. tripped over a step and I went into full-feline reflex mode to spin around and take the impact with my body while the computer used my torso as a gentle landing pad.

On my 3 Windows machines it does not work too. That makes it at least 5. :D

I made another post about my issue. I tried all kind of cables usb-c to usb-c, usb-a to usb-c, different external usb-c power supplies, different ports, Windows 10 and Window 11, latest windows updates and older versions. Non of them worked.

On all my machines there is no working driver for the "KONTROL S88 MK3 DFU" device that appears when the updater tries to boot the keyboard in update mode.

Would be intresting to know if there is a Windows user around where it worked.

In NI terms and conditions is stated that:

of your decision to withdraw from this contract by an unequivocal statement (e.g. a letter sent by post, fax or e-mail).

That is what I am looking for but only the French and UK shops have email addresses but not the German one.

Oscar makes a great point. I need to run out for a USB-C Hub and long cable...but yeah, I actually may be able to try this on Windows 11, Windows 10, and finally M1 MacBook Pro.

And believe me, I'm not in so much of a hurry that I'd be upset...not even if I worked on this all weekend, lol. I'm an IT guy and this would be a fun problem to work. There will be plenty of time for music!

Anyhow, I'm still trying to source a 15 foot USB C cable at Best Buy or another local retailer...plus a USB-C hub that will work for Windows machines. If I can snag a delicious burger, BLT, or Chinese or Thai late lunch in the process, well then, hah, I will indeed be a happy dude.

My Windows 11 machine does indeed have USBC/Thunderbolt on the back. The motherboard I built it with has that on there somewhere, and I'm using Thunderbolt to drive my UAD X8P interface, so there's that. It's just with the configuration of my home office, I'd like to add a hub and get a couple of 10-15 foot USB-C cables. My old Windows 10 machine in the other room has a Thunderbolt card. I don't know if I could daisy-chain into that loop on that machine. I have another Windows 10 machine, an old i9 laptop with USB-C on it too, and then my M1 Mac only has USB-C ports, so there's that.

So I have enough computers here to be dangerous.

    Meelo: "I've seen some stuff..."

Cute Girl: "Wow, what kind of stuff?"

    Meelo: "You know...some stuff..."

Damn, I don't know what made me think of that, haha!

Okay, I'm off on a tech run. More to come from me later...

Good luck. As said, if it works please let us know. So far I haven't seen any windows guy here stating that it worked.

In the youtube setup video people are complaining only about having that issue with windows only too so it more and more looks like it's Windows issue.

Yes we know that already. But does it effect all Windows computer, or has anyone getting it to work properly on windows?

If the S-Series MK3 really needs an external USB-C power supply to update the firmware, then with N.I. shipping devices so obvious in need of firmware updates then I find it hard to even fathom why N.I. would not include such a USB-C powers supply unit ! I mean maybe ship without a USB-C PSU if the the firmware update need were a remote possibility but when shipping with hardly finished firmware I must confess that I find it extremely had to understand why N.I. would do such a thing ! I mean it's a regular recipe for trouble and customer dissatisfaction !

    Edit :

After having 'slept on it' then I have reached the conclusion that the reason that N.I. suggests the use of a hub probably is that it is because of driver problems (built into FW/HW) in the Sxx MK3 versus some USB C chipsset or their drivers why N.I. attempt to use the hub as go-between to alter what the Sxx MK3 is (inter)facing. This is of course purely conjecture on my part me not having any real insights into the inner workings of it all. It do however appear to be the logical conclusion..
