@domolo @blunt rapture Importing your own samples is not possible with a Play Series unfortunately!

Hi @Monochrome Here comes an answer from the product team. 🙂
💬 DUETS is a follow-up of GLAZE, made in collaboration with Curtis Wilson (aka Sauce) and Rochad Holiday - the same producers behind GLAZE. The instrument lets you play with multisample vocals on one side and keys on the other, so in a way you can think of it as something between HYBRID KEYS and GLAZE. With DUETS, we wanted to offer not just vocal chops, but vocals that can actually play like an instrument.

Our product team says they are from a roster of talented artists picked by a team of producers behind this instrument: Curtis Wilson (Sauce) and Rochad Holiday. In case you wanna catch a glimpse of them at work, here are their Instagram.

Very interesting question @AmbivertMusic! Here's an answer from our product team:
In recording for these types of projects, often times it's all about inspirations and vibes in the studio. Freestyling riffs in different keys bring different inspiration. And the chosen words were sometimes picked based on how they sound overall as a recording - like we'd find melodies first and then find words that suit them.

Our product team says: DUETS is very much a hybrid of keys and synths mixed with vocal multi sampled recordings. NI hasn't offered anything like that before, and we can't think of a similar product on the market as well. 😉

Thanks for the question @Psyearth5. Here are some insights from the product team:
For DUETS, we combined synths with processed vocals. So it's not all about vocals like GLAZE. Of all 150ish presets in DUETS, the majority are these vocals and synths hybrid. The rest are runs and vocals.
Definitely works for ambient!

A bit of an easter egg for you. "Sauce" is actually the name of a producer we partnered with for the creation of this instrument. He's the music industries' go-to vocal producer.
As for what the macro knob does, our product team says that in most cases the “Sauce” macro is affecting Tune, LFO, a little bit crush and a little flair. You can of course tweak it yourself too. Here's how it looks:

Without going into the details of what multitimbral might mean in this case 🧐 our product team confirmed that Kontakt is multitimbral, so you can of course load a few different instances of DUETS in one instance of Kontakt, assigned to different MIDI channels, etc.
If the question is about DUETS specifically, there are in general 2 sound sauces for Play Series. One is loaded up on side A and one on side B. You can control the amount of A or B on the “Balance” knob. And to a degree you can MIDI control A or B in your DAW.
Hope this answers the question.

There's no formant shifter in Play Series sorry!

Our product team wasn't too sure if they understand you correctly, but they say that in general DUETS has a built in sequencer that you can create your own sequences, adjust the ‘swing’ knob, etc. to possibly achieve the sound you want.
However, if what you want is to sync the vocals/one-shots to time in your DAW, a workaround would be to shift MIDI data inside your DAW to not be so on the grid...

his exams are in a few months ..gutted we didnt win duets ..ive been teaching him how to use machine and we had a meeting with his head of music education at his school a few weeks ago,my son wrote a track using machine for one of the briefs which was too create a piece of music with a action movie feel..he played it in class and his teacher was impressed but it wasnt allowed because they didnt know what machine was.
my son explained to them its just a tool and because hes a drummer not a keyboard player he was really struggling but once i taught him how to use machine it was like a bomb went of in his brain ,everything fell into place and he could find a way of getting his thoughts into music..
his school asked me about it in the meeting and i explained and gave them your website but they still refused his track because machine isnt a program they use in english schools ..my son was gutted they only let you use soundtrap (which is terrible ) ...he starts college in september and luckly when we went there for his first interview the educators all use machine so he will love it when he goes there, its just a shame more schools in uk dont use machine if they did more kids would get into making music instead of using programs such as soundtrap which most students in his class hate.

I think he is referring to how many of the instrument on here including the mentioned arturia ones all have the same common trait of combining two sounds together and is asking if they plan on giving us a instrument that will be a big bang, and will be combination of three sounds or elements

This sounds really interesting. Ah, I see the question answered above, so this is inspired by Glaze. Cool.

May I ask who designed the plugin's GUI? I have great interest in the graphic design of virtual instruments.
