Continuous recording until unarmed?

What is this feature called where you hit record and the pattern length grows as you record so you won't have to set the pattern length manually? I could've sworn it was doing it a few days ago so now I'm not sure if it only works under certain circumstances

Hi,

Grow Pattern while recording?

Enable in Preferences --> Default -->Pattern "Grow Pattern while recording"

this only worked in Ideas View (iirc)
