Kontact 8 Upgrade Eligibility?

I want to upgrade from Kontact 7 to Kontact 8 if there is a Black Friday sale on upgrades in a few weeks. I own Kontact 7 by way of purchasing Komplete Standard 14 in 2023, which included Kontact 7. Am I eligible to upgrade Kontact to version 8 at the upgrade price, or would I have had to have purchased Kontact 7 as a stand-alone purchase rather than as part of Komplete 14?

Yep. You can actually check it yourself if it takes your Komplete 14’s Kontakt 7 into account:

If you see a green $99 price and the cart says "Kontakt 8 Update" when you hit "Add to cart", then you’d be

Well - you can always access the older versions of any Kontakt library via My Downloads in your NI Account. Just roll back to a known good Kontakt 7 version of a library and you are good to go.

Just make sure to never allow Native Access to install any updates for that or any other library you roll back.

Also remember that if you do not require third party library usage OR actually create Kontakt instruments yourself - there is no need to buy the full version of Kontakt.

Kontakt 8 Player will pretty much handle any instrument that is installed via Native Access - free of charge.

I think that Kontakt 7 as part of a bundle would qualify as owning Kontakt 7 just the same and I would think that you could update to Kontakt 8 if you want. I myself always recommend buying the bundle or the bundle update because of what you get on top , unless of course you are not interested in all the other stuff but only Kontkakt.

As for the sale then we expect there to be a Cyber Season sale rather soon (within a few weeks) but nobody knows for sure. And also we do not know what will be/was on the sale until the sale is over , since nobody that would know are allowed to tell any of it in advance.

If you are specifically looking at Black Friday/Cyber Season deals - you should really consider the upgrade from K14→K26 (vs just upgrading Kontakt alone).

Much better value overall AND of course you get Kontakt 8 with that Komplete upgrade.

Thanks, all. I only use 4 or 5 of the instruments in the Komplete 14 Standard bundle, so it's not worth upgrading that unless it is only slightly more than upgrading Kontact. I only need Kontact 8 because some of the instruments that I do use got updated and now require Kontact 8. I wouldn't have done the update of the instruments if I had known they would no longer work with K7.
