S88 update fails... Bricked my keyboard?

Question

So while I'm struggling to get my NI stuff to work properly I decided that updating the keyboard itself maybe could iron out some issues, but that has now turned into a new headache.

I downloaded the updater (The link on the keyboard screen itself doesn't lead to the updater, by the way, and I had to search for it manually, and a lot of the links I can press when reading NI support documents just lead to a empty "not all who wander are lost" page… Someone should probably look into that as a separate issue…)

I've ran the updater many times and I just get stuck with this Error -2 every time. And now it seems I can't get the keyboard to even play anything and is essentially non-functional.

You are very welcome.

You can also try a good USB-C to A-port cable and then attach to a PC USB A port combined with using a PD ready USB-C PSU on the keyboard to see if that makes any difference.

In the end , then if you can not get things to work otherwise then you need to ask  N.I. Support  to help fix the problem.    Use the bot Riff to open a ticket , tell Riff that the suggestions do not help and that you want to open a ticket and have human support assistance.

Solution: Plugged it into one of the blue USB ports on the back of my PC. For some reason that let the update go through. Thanks for taking the time to reply, PoorFellow.

Error -2 in this situation indicates an overloaded USB bus.

It is possible you had other/too many USB devices plugged in, and/or the bandwidth of your USB bus was exceeded.

Sometimes, unplugged other peripherals, or changing the port solves the issue, as it appears for you.
