The problem. Native Access 3.x is an Electron app and doesn't run under Wine out of the box. The failures aren't one bug but a stack of them: it exits silently before a window appears (Wine sizes its main thread from the exe header and Chromium's V8 overflows it), or it never draws (a missing Segoe UI makes Chromium enumerate fonts tens of thousands of times until Wine runs out of GDI handles), newer versions show a blank window (the GPU process crash-loops), the NTK helper daemon can't be installed because its MSI custom actions crash, NI's own C-runtime combination segfaults, and once you get past all that the InstallAware installers for apps like Kontakt fail because they query an MSI table Wine's SQL parser rejects. Even then, libraries installed through Native Access may not show up in Kontakt, and the Player/Full dependency check refuses to install libraries when only Kontakt Player is present.
What this does. NI on Linux is a small app (GTK4, packaged as a Flatpak) that owns a private Wine environment and applies every one of those fixes for you: it patches the stack reserve, installs the right fonts and font substitutions, installs the real Microsoft C runtime, extracts and registers the NTK daemon, launches with the GPU workaround, patches the dependency check so an installed Player counts, installs NI apps whose installers fail by running them silently under an MSI trace and deploying the payload from that trace, registers libraries so Kontakt sees them, and bridges the resulting VST2/VST3/CLAP plugins to Linux DAWs with yabridge. You never touch Wine.
What it does not do. It doesn't include or download Native Access. On first run it links you to NI's Native Access download page and you pick the installer you downloaded; everything after that is automatic. It also disables Native Access's self-updater on purpose, since each NA release can break a fix; updates are deliberate, via a downloaded installer. It's unofficial and not affiliated with or endorsed by Native Instruments, so don't ask NI support about it.
Status. Early (0.1.0). Verified on an Ubuntu-based machine and on a fresh Fedora 43 install with no Steam or Wine, with Native Access 3.25.2, Kontakt 8 Player, and Kontakt libraries loading in Bitwig through yabridge. x86_64 only. A Flathub submission is in progress; until then the Flatpak bundle is on the releases page. Most of the code was written with an AI coding assistant under my direction and tested by me; issues and pull requests welcome.
