Kontakt 8.12.1.0 crashing when loading nki files.

Question

Kontakt is crashing when loading some of my nki files. Event log shows "Exception code: 0xc0000005". These files crash standalone, as well as Kontakt in Studio Pro and Cubase. The same files work fine in Kontakt 7 standalone, and I've had these nki files for many years. Any place I can drop these files so someone could investigate?

Thanks PoorFellow. I did all the items in the crash solution page to no avail. Fortunately I have a 100% repro with tiny nki files so I'd easily be able to send them to NI support, along with the crash dump file and the event log entry. Since it's a 0xc0000005 code, they should find the offending code real quick. Ruddy Foeller's workaround did work so in the mean time I have a "save as default multi" placeholder which allows me to keep using Kontakt without fear of a crash with every patch load.

Have you reported this to their tech support, or if not, do you know the best way I could do that?

If you find a genuine bug then contact  N.I.  Support and include as much bug documentation as possible.  However if what you experience is something that is fixed by e.g. some solution that NI Support suggests and it is not something that returns by doing whatever actions and is reproducible then I personally would expect that you would not get it recognized as a bug.

Also sometimes then NI forum Customer Care steps in (Jeremy_NI) if they think that they are observing what appear as a bug .
