With the inMusic acquisition of Native Instruments, I’ve been thinking about the future of Maschine and would be interested to hear what the community thinks.
I see at least two possible directions:
1️⃣ Maschine → MPC
inMusic could gradually move Maschine users towards the MPC ecosystem, eventually reducing investment in Maschine hardware/software.
2️⃣ Maschine + MPC = complementary ecosystems
Instead of competing directly, the two could have different roles:
- MPC as a portable, standalone workstation / sketchbook for capturing ideas anywhere.
- Maschine as the creative production environment where those sketches are developed further, either on Maschine+ or with the Maschine software.
This second scenario could become particularly interesting if a future MPC device (for example something like the MPC Sample) could export a project directly to Maschine, transferring samples, patterns, scenes, etc.
Even without such integration, an MPC could already work as a "sketchbook": create an idea on the go, export the samples/stems/MIDI, then continue the work in Maschine.

A) Maschine gradually disappears and users migrate to MPC
B) Maschine remains a distinct product/ecosystem alongside MPC
C) Maschine and MPC remain separate but become increasingly integrated
D) A new portable "Maschine Sketch" device would make more sense than using an MPC
E) Something completely different
And more specifically:
Would you buy/use an MPC as a portable sketchbook if there were a simple "Export to Maschine" workflow?
I'm curious to hear both what people expect inMusic to do and, perhaps more importantly, what Maschine users actually want from the next few years of the platform.
