I’d like to share my original design concept, created while searching for the best standalone groovebox. Considering the strengths of Maschine+ and identifying its shortcomings, I came up with a solution I wanted to share. I call it Live+, though the name is just for visualization—anyone can suggest alternatives. It’s a modular device that follows the same product philosophy as Native Instruments’ Expansions, inspired by the product itself, its name, and the competition. The idea is a modular expansion that adds portability to the Maschine Plus with a built-in battery, reference monitors,microphone and additional inputs. It features snap-style stabilization across the inputs and outputs of both devices, as well as a built-in lock mechanism for the power port. After the unification of Native Instruments and InMusic, it feels more relevant than ever. I might even create a 3D-printed model to test the clipping/locking mechanism and stability of a prototype. For now, this is just a concept without any official authorization or endorsement from NI—simply a way to spark discussion. I’ve shared my original idea with NI but haven’t received any feedback, so I’m sharing it here. It’s currently considered an open-source project, and in the future, I may share more creative content.
