Xone PX5 external mode post fader fx??

Hi, I have an Xone PX5 mixer, and I've run into a problem. The thing is, if I want to use a reverb or delay from Ableton, when I lower the fader, the effect sound disappears, since the mixer is running in external mode with Traktor, and the effect sound is routed to the same channel as the track. I can get this to work if I use the effects in send mode and set up a separate channel (channel 4, for example) to pick up the effect sound. Of course, this only works if I use the send knobs located at the top of the mixer, which isn’t worth it for me if I’m using a reverb, for example, since I’ve noticed that the audio multiplies, and the track signal can even be duplicated when controlling the reverb effect’s automation.

My question is: is there any way to get the effect in post-fader mode on a separate channel without using the send knobs—that is, just using a K2 to control the reverb and that’s it—or do I need to buy a separate sound card?

I’m asking because I’ve seen that the Xone PX5 already has a sound card, yet I still can’t get the effects to be post-fader. And I don’t want to use the send knobs because I already have the tape delay effect set up in send mode to channel 4, which receives the signal from the send knobs on the PX5.

Or, could I even achieve this by sending the signal (without using the send knobs) to Ableton and applying the effect there, so that the clean signal from the effect goes into channel 4 or an auxiliary channel in Traktor?

How is your routing?

individual Traktor channel → Ableton → PX5?

If that is the case, no, you can't have post fader. Because the effects is added to what gets send to the deck on the xone.

What you could do is pause the track in Traktor. Then the track would stop, volume on px5 is still up and you should hear the echoes.

Traktor channel → PX5 → master? → Ableton

In this case maybe? You would need to return the ableton signal to the USB Return channel on the px5. I have not looked at the manual from the px5 yet, but I think that could work. Set effect to 100% wet!

It sounds like your effect is not 100% wet. You can't have 50% dry / wet or similar when using send return effects. You have to use 100% wet every time. And then control the amount by how much you send.

I use reverb as send / return on my xone 96 with both traktor effects and external effects box. It works. But only if the effect is set to 100% wet.

I mapped my xone96 to trigger effect if the fader is anywhere in between 0% and 99%.

Oops I was trying to reply. No the fadders on the xone px5 are not midi.
Carlos, I've been testing to send audio to traktor, and found some problems that I don't remember, so no for now I'm just using traktor. Now I don't know how to send anything to the master on xone px5, I've tried all the connections on traktor, yet I can't apply anything to the master channel, only using the built in effects in the mixer. Now yeah i know about having the wet to 100%. But imagine I'm applying a reverb, the moment I put the size to minimum, the effect would still play, I would need to lower every send knob before turning off the reverb effect or else the dry signal will play. Also I've got a tape delay asigned to the send knobs, so I wouldn't be able to use the tape delay while using the reverb, or else I would need to map some k2 buttons to apply reverb and tape delay each on different tracks. Idk if I'm explaining myself

Yeah I've looked in the manual and I can map the faders, idk why I would need that tho, the mixer should work in external mode, I don't think I can use internal mode on traktor + I can't map the eq knobs so…

You have to send the deck where you want to apply fx to with the px5 back to traktor, and in traktor send the fx back to a spare channel on the px5. The FX HAS to be on, else it will send the dry signal back. You control the amount of reverb on the px5, either by lowering the send amount, or by lowering the volume on the return channel.

And yes, with the px5 you can only have 1 send effect. But if you want post fader it's the only way to do it.

What if I do this:
Traktor - PX5 - Ableton - PX5 auxiliar channel. What if I send the px5 track channels to ableton, apply effects, and send the effect signal to the auxiliary channel on the px5, that should work right?

It is irelevant what mixing mode is really. Effects work with both modes. I found it easiest and also moving the fader from 100% down to 0% gives me a CC control over the effect parameter in relative mode. And also using the crossfader for the same parameter control in absolute mode.

If there is a spare midi button on the mixer, then use a modifier to turn the fader fx mode on and off.
