BAD: Brand New out of the box MK3. All keyboard keys were producing sound on Komplete Kontrol app except for the keys between C#2 and G#2 refused to play (a total of 8 keys). I noticed onboard firmware was 1.7.6 and Native Instruments had an updated Firmware version. So I downloaded the update and launched it.

WORSE: The updater launched on the computer and just as expected, the keyboard displayed 'firmare updating'. Then suddenly, the Updater gives a "An error occurred while updating your KONTROL S KM3" message. The keyboard now goes straight to an on screen "Looks like something went wrong" upon powering on and further attempts to update show that the onboard firmware is now 0.0.1.

$840+ dollars, had it for 2 hrs.
Sucks but likely returning this product.

Contact NI Support and have them help fix it no need to return anything unless it turns out that there is faulty hW in which case then of course you will get another keyboard.

Just bought a Native Instruments Komplete Kontrol S61 MK3. Not crazy about the fact that it came with no instruction manual but "oh well" I thought. I got it up and running FAST with little trouble. It worked great for 20 minutes with Pro Tools and Absynth6. THen I realized 8 keys were not playing (C#2 through G#2). I thought it was preset-related but after shutting down Protools and Absynth, the problem persisted when trying to play the keyboard through the NI Komplete Kontrol App....all keys plyed fine except those 8 keys. I noticed the firmware on the keyboard was 1.7.6 and the NI site had a 2.1.3 version available so I downloaded, and updated. The keyboard display was showing "Updating firmware..." Great!
THen the update returned an error,. From that moment on, the onboard firmware was BRICKED. It showed as 0.0.1 and would not get past the "Something went wrong..." message on the keyboard display. There was no way to then replace or update the now bricked firmware and based on the Amazon reviews, it looks like others are having a similar problem. NOT GOOD. I had this $850 keyboard in my possession for 5 HOURS.....before I sent it back through Amazon. Thank God for Amazon.

things like that unfortunately can always happen, and it's annoying as …. but if you can get it changed through Amazon it should be fine. At least I hope that for you.
