NKS allows hardware control of devices inside a DAW or Mainstage. Great.
But it hardly works. When I instantiate any NKS compatible plugin inside a DAW like Cubase or Bitwig, I cannot use Maschine for instance to do any NKS kiond of thing.
The most important thing, unrelated to NKS, is that me as many many others want to SWITCH PRESETS with a controller, be it Maschine or and other MIDI controller. WIth quite serious effort this is for instance doable with Arturia plugins, via MIDI learn and preset creation for each plugin, the result is still tedious for some reasons.
But the worst is that Guitar Rig (and presumably more or even all plugins, I avoid them already) does not even allow switching presets with the computer keyboard. Only mouse fiddling allows preset switching.
So I have soft and hardware from NI, which promises a lot woth NKS but elementary basic things are left behind.
Please add a usability expert to your team and try yourself working without mouse and see where you will hang.
I love NI hardware for its quality. I will never update or buy any further NI spoftware before this is fixed.
