how to get daw to recognize drum pad instead of keyboard pad

is there an xml drum map that your daw can load? my midi track is only taking in the keyboard mode of my mikro maschine. do i need to take a class on the control editor? i’ve been fiddling to no avail. i can make a drum map in my DAW but don’t know how assign the buttons to it.

i have a soft synth that notices the mikro just fine, i can hear and shift through drum presets. i can not record the midi. entering midi mode it does recognize that i’m hitting buttons on the midi track, but the inline editor doesn’t work.

@jomarkdave What DAW is it? What MIDI ports for the Mikro mk3 have you enabled in it?

Did you turn the Mikro MK3 to MIDI mode? Have you loaded a specific template in Controller Editor?

i can record an audio track, but editing and quantizing would be much more tedious.

recording a midi track is just blank.
