Just wondering - the last Komplete Kontrol was end of last year - which is in software terms almost century ago - can we expect any future updates or is this product slowly fading away? Any thoughs? Any rumours heard?
Development is usually slow/non existent other than fixes / os compatibility updates and a few small features that may trickle out every 12 months. I wouldn't say it's 'fading away' as it's been the same level of lackluster releases since day 1 so If you are hoping for something big or new functionality, I would curb enthusiasm and be content with what you have which may result in a surprise if something useful does actually eventuate.
There was a lot of "drama" with the introduction of the Kontrol S-MK3 line. The architectural decision to put so much of the "brains" onboard the device I believe may have stunted its growth.
The message from inMusic's CEO posted earlier today talked a bit about the S-Series.. and to me it sounded a bit like a re-think to this approach may happen.
thanks - also for all your rather entertaining sarcasm :-) Where is the message of the inMusic CEO to be found?
To be honest, I’m still baffled by how NI works and develops its tools. On a practical level: The Komplete Kontrol basic handling is - too say the least - basic. One can not even change the order of the different parameter cluster. What???? On a strategic level: There is NKS 2 and we are manually stuck in the previous generation. On a development level: With KI this tool could be turned into a powerhouse so easily - automatic recommendations of ideal parameter settings and clusters, provision of visual elements, maybe even preset incorporation. On a product incremental level: In Kontakt there are tools and leap utilities included - which do actually belong to Komplete Kontrol as well. Why on earth therefore - OK from a standalone perspective that could make sense - does one develop a bespoke arp tool etc. when they are being developed for Kontakt also - but obviously withe a different form factor but far more usability given its presets and open door policy towards other developers. On business driven level. They opened up the NKS useability to other brands. Quite wise - but their own product incl. the Keyboard remains to be a beautifuly screen for browsing that ends up being a screen with a massive picture on it with little else to offer (no second, third display of paramters, no push like information nothing what so ever). Not forgetting it took them almost 1,5 years to add features to the keyboard/ Komplete Kontrol world that should have been available on day one - in order to be way further down the innovation route by now that they actually are!!! Well. Well. Well P.S. They could even make a bit of money by including a Komplete Kontrol tier system with the basic version coming for free and the really elaborate one having a certain price tag connected to it.

Well, I hope NI does a strategy shift with next generation of keyboard controllers.
Make them high quality inputs devices for human movements.
Keep the "brains" separate.
We'll get much better evolution.
