PLAY, REC, STOP are playing notes

Question

I'm using Logic Pro 12.2, and suddenly the PLAY, REC, and STOP buttons on my keyboard have started playing notes from the currently selected instrument in Logic instead of performing their usual function.  This exact problem was reported in an earlier post (now closed), but the apparent solution in that case (deleting com.apple.logic.pro.cs) isn't working for me.  Everything worked fine yesterday, and to my knowledge nothing was upgraded and no settings were changed overnight. I've tried a cold reboot of everything - Logic, the computer, and the keyboard, yet this strange behavior continues.

@Jeremy_NI thanks for the troubleshooting guide. Very helpful resource!  I tried every step except the last one (contact customer support), but unfortunately I'm still experiencing the same original problem. Through the process of following all the troubleshooting steps, I did discover one anomaly:  In MacOS settings > Privacy & Security > Local Network , Logic Pro appears twice. If I click the toggle for either instance, that automatically changes the toggle for the other one.  Might that be a clue?  I only have one instance of Logic Pro in my Applications.

Ultimately, in that dialog, I enabled Local Network access for both instances of Logic Pro and ni-plugin-info. Not sure if that was necessary, but I figured it couldn't hurt. It was already enabled for NIHostIntegrationAgent. In any case, none of this worked.
