Help with Kontakt seeing presets

Komplete standard worked great in Windows 10, but my PC crashed so decided on a clean start in Windows 11. Since that time kontakt doesn't seem to see all my content presets. Currently Kontakt sees 5641 presets. There should be many thousands more. I've followed NI support's advice to delete the database files etc. I've recently deleted Kontakt, Komplete control and Native access and reinstalled them. There are now less presets than before (9000 ish). I seem to be going round in circles with this. Native access won't let me download updates on content as I get 'download failed' even with no VPN, anti virus and firewall in Win 11.Maybe Access is the issue?. The content files are on a separate drive. Any ideas? Many thanks

Based on your description then it is unclear to me what this "clean start in Windows 11" consists of in terms of what you have actually done or not done..

Self-evidently then Kontakt can not 'see' any presets for anything that is not properly installed or properly added via Native Access. So did you either re-install the content or at least add the 'Content' the proper way ? Ref. : Reinstalling a Komplete Bundle Without Re-Downloading Kontakt Libraries . Please notice that the described 'Add Content in N.A. only works for Kontakt libraries and that you will have to reinstall all apps , plugins and all expansions !

It is not exactly clear to me what you got going here , but it appear to me as if you possibly might not know that even if you make a new user on a new installation with exactly same name as it was on the old installation then all the other old drives , folders and files are still not the property of the new user. If you want to take ownership of drives , folders and files so that you are allowed write access then you will have to Take Ownership of drives, folders and files. To do that then you can use TakeOwn : Add Take Ownership to Context Menu in Windows 11 .

Else then if you have problem with N.A: itself then my advice would be that you :

uninstall both Native Access and the NTKDaemon

Then run the N.I. reg tool and if still there then remove both Native Access and NTKdaemon

Then also delete the Native Access folder from %AppData%\Native Instruments\

then reboot computer

and then download latest version of Native Access for your OS and run installer as an Admin.

If that doesn't help then keep working with N.I. Support , they should be able to help you fix the problem.

This is not possible in Windows 11 unless you have somehow managed to strip out all the security subsystems of the OS.

Windows Security, Firewall, Defender, Antimalware Core Services - all of it - are running by default.

How do you know there should be "thousands more"?

Can you give us an example of an instrument that should be displaying presets - but is not?

Thanks for the comments. By a fresh start I meant a completely clean drive with win 11 and installing all my software DAW and instruments) again. I'll have a go at the suggestions i'vwe been given and I'll have another look at the ownership issue.

Ok so the issue seemed to be full ownership of my content folder on the separate drive. That was resolved through the securities tab for it in explorer. Now Native acces has downloaded all my content and updates. Progress 🙂

From what I remember there should be over 40,000 sounds within Komplete 14. I've attached a screenshot of Kontakt and Komplete control. I had deleted the database for control and rescan. There are 20417 presets in control and only 5641 in Kontakt? Thanks

I am not sure what is the problem if resetting Kontakt does not help (reinitialize the KONTAKT Database) .

Of course then you can also try reinstalling some products and then reset the Kontakt DB to see if that helps .

You might need help from someone else or you might have to contact N.I. Support

Also please notice that when you contact NI support then you will receive an AI auto-response and it is important that you answer this response to let NI know that you still need their assistance. This is also valid in general , if you have a support ticket with NI then always respond to their emails as long as that you still need help , else the ticket will close.

Thanks I'll give that a try, much appreciated. I have been working with NI support on this, it's been a few weeks now and today has been the first bit of progress. I replied to their last email (with an updated support tool update) last Tuesday and I haven't had a reply yet.

You can also try selecting individual products in Kontakt to see if you think that there are some that sticks out with respect to showing what you think is too few presets (though that might vary a lot from product to product (?)). That could give you an idea what you would want to try to re-install before a Kontakt DB reset .

P.S.

Also then there is a number of libraries that after an update are no longer compatible with Kontakt 7 because they need Kontakt 8 after an update. That could possibly also prevent Kontakt 7 from showing their presets (and possibly also Komplete Kontrol to the extent that it needs Kontakt for that.).

So if you want all libraries to work in Kontakt 7 then you might have to downgrade some of the libraries to an older version (can be found at Account downloads). (my apologies , I am not a NI employee and do not have any list over updated libraries and I know that not even the NI shop tells that but at least in some cases only shows what version Kontakt the old library version needs)

You could try installing Kontakt 8 Player (from free Komplete Start) to see how many presets that that shows - though you might not want open and save any DAW or DAW projects until that you have uninstalled Kontakt 8 Player again…

Yes it seems some librairies are only playable in Kontakt 8. I installed the 8 player and they are ok in there. It's a bit annoying that you buy a product and need to update it to keep pace with libraries already purchased. That link you sent for older versions of these libraries is useful. I'll probably back date those odd ones as it'll get confusing with the 2 different Kontakt versions in a DAW. There probably won't be much difference funtionally.
