studio not operational last 2+ years..have many sessions w/k5 (was using rosetta) followed multiple sets of instructions regarding uninstalling k5…spotlight searched for anything remaining and nothing showed

launched session…still showed inactive k5….tried to activate…said couldn't due to plugin not in folder

Please check the Notes about Auto-Migration of Kontakt Versions in DAW Projects

Selected notes :

For Pro Tools AAX, migration works down to Kontakt 5.1.0.

Do not try to perform the auto-migration on other DAWs or older versions! And do not perform auto-migration if you are still working on your project!

Kontakt 7 has introduced a so-called "auto-migration" of plug-in versions in supporting DAWs. The same feature is available for Kontakt 8.

I think that you might need the advice of a Mac expert which I am not but luckily then NI Customer Care's Jeremy_NI is and he should be back Monday or later in coming week.

But you will need at least Kontakt 7 for migration to work and if projects were made on an Intel based computer or using Rosetta then you might have to use Rosetta again when opening project in your DAW.

Also you have to do the must do which is :

ALL NI apps including NTKDaemon and DAW must have full disk access. : How to Enable Full Disk Access on macOS

If using Sequoia/Tahoethen if prompted to do so then N.I. apps must be added to the Local Network (Ref. : How to grant audio apps access to your local network on macOS 15 Sequoia)

@BryanH It's not completely clear from your description what you are trying to achieve. You also didn't specifiy which DAW you are using.

Are you trying to open all projects with Kontakt 5 in Rosetta mode or are you trying to use the Auto Migration system and this doesn't work as expected?

For the system to work, if your DAW supports this, you need to delete any Kontakt 5 plugin file found here: Macintosh HD > Library > Audio > Plug-Ins > Components and make sure you uninstall everything as explained here: https://support.native-instruments.com/hc/en-us/articles/210291865-How-to-Uninstall-Native-Instruments-Software-from-a-Mac-Computer

k 5.7.1 (says it works for everything above 5.1 so it should work)

pt 2024.10 (says it works for everything above 12.x so it should work)

trying to auto migrate so I don't need to use rosetta anymore. most if not all sessions were previously started on mac pro trash can so intel…don't want to use k5 so I can ditch rosetta- so that's why I'm wanting to migrate everything to k7

I've followed multiple directions online regarding deleting k5 (deleted k6 as well) so only k7 is left

then I open a session with rosetta…there is a k5 instance (that is inactive)…I click to make it active but then it says "can't because plug in not in the plugins folder"a

is there something else I am supposed to do? from all the reading it sounds like I would click to activate and instead of it looking for 5 and not seeing it it should just open k7
