Does anyone know how to send the current track's key/note to Bitwig?
Richie Hawtin recently mentioned he does this. It seemed really useful for putting together hybrid sets.
Has anyone done it?
I don't know about Bitwig, but there's something for Ableton: https://www.prodjmaps.com/blog/sincroniza-el-tono-de-traktor-y-ableton-automticamente
It would be brilliant to have it natively supported for Maschine
I think it is some sort of custom made plugin/script.
According to the description this uses my Traktor API client to “read” the key.
I would not be surprised if Richie Hawtin got help from from Traktor devs to get somethin custom.
But yes, if you want to do something yourself, your best bet is the 3rd party "Traktor API"
he uses the API client mentioned above.
Just look at this Traktor API, it call JS code from QML.
It's just amazing what is possible with the openened QML code.
Thanks NI for opening your controller code, i think it should be more shared because this is the main reason i keep using Traktor and it really make this software exceptionnal for creative djing.
Very few people know about this, even though it's a real strength…
How do you know this, if I may ask.
(edit)
I haven't said anything.😂
Hi, I'd like to share with you a project that uses ErikMinekus's API https://github.com/kirkwoodwest/bitwig-api-flat/, along with the Richi's extension for Bitwig, which I've significantly updated :)
The source code hasn't been updated yet, but the extension is compiled from the new source code and works brilliantly.
It supports Bitwig 6 and is built with the latest API 25

Akai Fire Copy & Paste + Ratchet Operator - Correct Workflow First tap → tap a pad to mark it as the source and copy its notes to the buffer (this loads the notes you want to paste) Hold the COPY button → keeps the buffer locked and ready for pasting Tap any other pad (while holding COPY) → pastes the copied notes to that pad (executes twice automatically to paste operator settings like Ratchet) Keep holding COPY → you can tap multiple pads one by one, and each will receive the same paste Summary: Select source → Copy to buffer → Hold COPY → Paste to destinations (multiple). + The display refresh and flickering issues have been almost resolved.
Lexicon PSP42 ver. 2 is now also supported
LaunchpadProMk3 color support added for Bitwig 6
I hope you enjoy this! Cheers!
I forgot to mention one important step: for the connection between Tractor and Bitwig to work, you need to enable the IAC Driver from Audio MIDI Studio in the macOS settings, or use a virtual MIDI cable for Windows
In Bitwig’s controller settings, click “Add Controller” and select “TraktorBridge.”
Then, for the MIDI device, select the IAC Driver on Mac or another virtual MIDI cable.
After completing the steps above, place the Note Transpose plugin before the synthesizer and map the semitones—to do this, don’t touch the controller; simply load a track in Traktor 4, and this will automatically send CC16 on channel 10 through the connection you’ve already set up. Once the mapping is done, you’re 100% ready for action!
Hello everyone! TraktorBitwigBridge With Deck Key Send Selector is out:
https://github.com/userdsp/rhbitwig/releases/tag/v.1.0.6.1 For this one to work you have to have two Allen & Heath XONE:K2/K3 controllers. If you have connected the LEDs somewhere else, please remove these mappings; otherwise, they will not light up based on which deck is selected to send the tones. A deck is selected by quickly double-tapping one of the buttons (< 320 ms) since a single press of the DEC SELECT button on my tractor also functions as a shift while held down
