I've tried everything!

System settings / reinstall / general / connection / leave NTK daemon and local network enabled, everything is enabled / disabled / I've tried absolutely everything! The video shows that the software is completely buggy!

In Komplete Standalone, there's no browser, no DAW , plugins, just the default MIDI templates page!

Ableton is even worse, it's buggy everywhere! Just rest on komplete page ^^ I'm going crazy.It was working perfectly yesterday.

The video shows that the software is completely bugged! In Komplete Standalone, there's no browser, no DAW plugins, just the default MIDI templates page! Ableton is even worse, it's buggy everywhere! I'm going crazy. Change the cables.It's been 8 hours, I'm going crazy.
It was working perfectly yesterday.

Again It turns on! But it's glitching. In Komplete Kontrol, it's stuck on the default MIDI template page, and in Ableton, on Komplete Kontrol, the browser, plugin, and DAW buttons remain off!

and Komplete Kontrol standalone on the S88 is completely unresponsive; it's frozen. Ableton is even worse! I've been working on this for a day!
My effects are all grayed out.
I've restarted.Uninstalled Native Access.Deleted Komplete Kontrol.
Reinstalled everything.Repaired.
I'm about to break everything. Nothing works. I'm going crazy.
It's incomprehensible what to do.
I did this update and I'm tearing my hair out.

Support sent me here, I've done everything, but nothing works!

If NI Support sends you a response with a suggestion and the suggestion does not help then you need to promptly reply to NI Support to let them know that the suggestion was of no help and that you still needs their help.

Also please notice that when you contact NI support then you will receive an AI auto-response and it is important that you answer this response to let NI know that you still need their assistance. This is also valid in general , if you have a support ticket with NI then always respond to their emails as long as that you still need help , else the ticket will close.

My problem here is that you didn't tell us exactly what it is that you updated which makes it like a guessing competition to have to help you. So what did you actually update that caused this problem ?

If you updated the keyboard firmware then notice that you also have to update the HCS (Hardware Connection Service) via Native Access.

Also (An edit of a Jeremy_NI post ): Please switch the keyboard to MIDI 1.0. And if you're on a Mac, it's important that after you do that you disconnect/power off the keyboard and go in your Audio & MIDI setup to delete the entry for the keyboard. This way, next time you connect the keyboard your Mac will recognize it as a new device . All is explained here: How to Switch a Kontrol S-Series MK3 Keyboard to MIDI 1.0

Else then what is your keyboard firmware version ? and what is your version of HCS ?

I'm on MacBook Pro m2 sequoia

I did the last mk3 s88 update

I deleted komplete kontrol
Empty the Trash

I reinstalled native access
Repair complete
Uptate HCS

I went to see if NTK daemon was present

Jonas sent me
1 Open your Mac's System Preferences and click Security & Privacy.
2 Under the Privacy tab, choose Full Disk Access from the sidebar.
3 Click the lock icon in the bottom left of the window and enter your macOS password.
4 Ensure that Komplete Kontrol appears in the list. If it does not appear in this list, click the + icon and add the location of Komplete Kontrol from Mac HD: Applications > Native Instruments > Komplete Kontrol > Komplete Kontrol.app.
5 Once completed, click the lock icon again.
The NIHardwareAgent and NIHostIntegrationAgent services are now set as login items. Restart your computer, start the Komplete Kontrol software and check if your Komplete Kontrol keyboard starts as expected. If this is not the case, continue troubleshooting.
4. Grant audio apps access to your local network (macOS 15 Sequoia)
macOS 15 Sequoia requires certain apps and processes to be added to the “local network” in order to function correctly.
When macOS 15 detects an app or process trying to communicate over the local network, it adds an entry to a list in the Privacy & Security settings.
1 Open the System Settings on your Mac.
2 Navigate to Privacy & Security > Local Network.
3 Enable all entries for your NI hardware and software, your DAW, etc. that appear in the list. Note: Ensure that NIHostIntegrationAgent is enabled, too. NTKDaemon doesn't require access to the local network
Restart your computer, start the Komplete Kontrol software and check if your Komplete Kontrol keyboard starts as expected. If this is not the case, continue troubleshooting.
5. The computer's system drive is formatted in a case-sensitive format
Case-sensitive hard drive formats are not supported by Native Instruments products and will prevent the Komplete Kontrol keyboard to start as expected. This articleexplains how to find out if your hard drive's format is case-sensitive. If it is not, continue troubleshooting.
6. The USB cable or the USB hub is not supported
Use the original USB cable provided with your Komplete Kontrol keyboard. If not available anymore, this article contains information that will help you choose a suitable USB cable.
Use a different USB port on your system in case the one in use is damaged.
If possible, always connect your Komplete Kontrol keyboard directly to your computer's USB port. If you must use a USB hub, make sure it is powered by its own power supply. More information regarding USB hubs and docks is available.

(After a while, I got everything working again; it only worked in Komplete Standalone, not in Ableton.)

I went back to Standalone, and the bug is back / it's not working anymore.

The keys are off: browser / plugins / DAW / everything is malfunctioning.

I've restarted the computer at least 5 times, unplugged the cables, and even tried different ones.

I have two native USB ports.

It's also plugged into a wall outlet.

And I've tried all three USB ports on the Mac!

After all that, I started over, and now it's worse / completely unresponsive in Standalone, but the effects are grayed out; I don't have any anymore.

It rescanned everything; my Ultimate is no longer the same!

I even deleted the database folder. After running Repair komplete kontrol, it reappeared.

But now nothing works; it's completely frozen/unresponsive.

I asked chat gpt to do some things.

Now it's a nightmare!

Alas then you appear to have misunderstood somethings. As far as I know then the "NIHardwareAgent and NIHostIntegrationAgent services" are not used by the S-Series MK3 keyboards , these are for the MK2 keyboards.

And with respect to the switching around cables and what not then if things were functioning before the update then it would have been most sensible to leave them alone at least in first round of trouble shooting.

By going over your computer like a tornado then you are in risk of creating more problems.

We are at a place where you need to start over the installation of the keyboard and frankly then since I am not Mac user and I do not have the tools that NI Support have to analyze your system then I think that this needs the intervention of NI Support.

Maybe @Jeremy_NI can assist when he is back Monday or later next week ?

Yes I know but

I followed Jonas' advice on the help page / but then I followed chat gpt which made me go to the terminal / activity monitor which seemed huge on her part because she proved to know AI and it worked again but once on Ableton everything bugged out again!

So my only two solutions are to revert it to MIDI 1.0 or change the firmware to 2.1.2?

Or wait for Native Instruments' response?

I'm going home tonight, I'll try both options! But I've been panicking since I saw the effects grayed out in Komplete Standalone!

I'd really like to reinstall everything properly and start from scratch; I'm afraid I've messed things up!

To update the firmware then the connection between the keyboard and the computer must be OK , and from your description then I do not know the state of the connection.

When you are going to update the keyboard firmware then you can find Latest Kontrol S-Series MK3 firmware update here and at the moment then that is 2.1.2 . Please notice that Firmware version and HCS version works together in tandem , if you update the keyboard firmware then you also needs to update the HCS via using latest version of Native Access for your OS . The MK3 keyboards rely on the HCS to be installed and working for their software connection with the computer to work (including in the DAW) . Installing the HCS is also supposed to install the required DAW scripts.

Generally then NI recommends using Midi 1.0 but the procedure described above with removing the keyboard in Mac Midi Studio and adding it again after making sure that the keyboard has been set to Midi 1.0 is a generally needed step if you have updated the firmware on the keyboard to make it work with your Mac.

Steps to check is first :

Physical connection with computer must be working (correct cable, USB plug , hub ,whatever )
Then the HCS must be installed and working , and evt. firmware update done. (please see referred timrae_NI quote above.)
Then you can check that you can get the software setup to work and communicate with latest version of Komplete kontrol standalone software

Then and only then is there need to start troubleshooting DAW functionality

well , this is first time that you actually told us what you updated.

Then you need to follow the procedure described in my last response before this (Steps to check is first) and my initial response.

I did that update, 2.1.2, my problems started!

It is entirely possible that all you needed to have done were the , update HCS , set the keyboard to Midi 1.0 , remove keyboard in Mac Midi Studio and add it again. But since you have done so much around with it all then I guess we will never know !

I said from the beginning that I performed the latest Komplete Serie 88 MK3 update.

And I also followed Jonas's steps, and in the subject line, I specified that it was an MK3!

Then I didn't need to update HCS because it was already done in Native Access, like Kontakt Absynth and others.

I did everything at once the day before yesterday...

EXCEPT THAT NOW... I'm going to have to start all over again from A to Z.

1 / Delete Komplete Kontrol (to recover everything I lost, I hope).

2/ Reinstall Native Access just in case.

3/ Check if the NTK daemon reappears in Activity Monitor.

4/ Go to System Settings and see if the other two Native folders are there.

5/ Go to Network settings as well. Basically, do what Jonas told me. Keep the Native Access cable (I have two) plugged into a USB port on the Mac.

6/ Plug the UDG cable into the power port.

And do all that!!

At this point in time, not all DAWs, plug-ins and operating systems support MIDI 2.0. If you have issues after setting the keyboard to MIDI 2.0, here's how to set the Kontrol MK3 back to MIDI 1.0:

Start your Kontrol MK3 keyboard.
Press the SETTINGS MIDI button.

Use buttons 1 and 2 above the display to select the Hardwarecategory.

Use the Page button to select page 2.

Turn the first knob to select MIDI 1.0.

On macOS, you need to perform these additional steps:

After you have set the Kontrol MK3 to MIDI 1.0 (see above), switch the keyboard off.
Start Finder and open Applications > Utilities > Audio MIDI Setup.
In the top menu bar, select Window > Show MIDI Studio.

Select the Kontrol S MK3 and click the "-" button (or press the del key on your computer keyboard).

Turn your keyboard back on.

Both your keyboard and macOS are now set up for MIDI 1.0 again
