Kontrol S49 MK3 firmware 2.1.2 issue - keysonly work with Play Assist/Scale enabled+Pitch Bend NW

Hi everyone,

after updating my Kontrol S49 MK3 firmware to version 2.1.2, I started having very strange MIDI behavior.

The keyboard is detected correctly by macOS, Ableton Live 12, Komplete Kontrol and Kontakt 8, but normal key input stopped working properly.

Current behavior:

• keys only respond when Play Assist is enabled
• after enabling a Scale in Play Assist, the keyboard starts playing notes normally
• without Play Assist / Scale enabled, the keys do not trigger notes at all
• standalone Komplete Kontrol and standalone Kontakt behave the same way
• Pitch Bend and Modulation touch controls on the left side stopped working completely after the update

I already tried:

• factory reset
• MIDI 1.0 / MIDI 2.0 switching
• reinstalling connections
• changing USB cable
• testing standalone apps without Ableton

At the moment MIDI 2.0 seems more stable, but the issue still remains.

Did anyone experience something similar after firmware 2.1.2?

Could this be:

• a broken MIDI mapping,
• Smart Play / Play Assist configuration issue,
• firmware bug,
• or something related to DAW/Main MIDI routing?

Any help would be appreciated.

@p.pawlowski Couldn't reproduce the issue here. Ableton, Kontakt and Komplete Kontrol, all are functional on Mac.

Can you double check in Komplete Kontrol in standalone that the Main MIDI input is ticked (and no other box)

Can you try this? (And you need to do this every time you switch from MIDI 1.0 to MIDI 2.0).

1. Disconnect the Kontrol MK3 keyboard
2. Start Finder and open Applications > Utilities > Audio MIDI Setup.
3. In the top menu bar, select Window > Show MIDI Studio.
   
4. Select the Kontrol S MK3 and click the "-" button (or press the del key on your computer keyboard).
   
5. Turn your keyboard back on.

Does that fix the issue?
