I think key text is a wonderful feature in Traktor. It’s very important to me because I pay close attention to keys when I’m DJing. However, everything Traktor does automatically in this regard during analysis is completely useless.
Either Traktor leaves this column blank (which is actually the best-case scenario), or it writes the same key as in Key (which is redundant), or it enters a different key (which is always wrong).
That’s why I only use Key Text for tracks that end in a different key than they start in. I enter that different key there so I know which track harmonizes well with this one as a follow-up track.
For the sake of clarity, it would be helpful for me if the Key Track field remained empty for all tracks that end in the same key as they begin. However, when editing, I can only enter off in the edit panel there, and then this field doesn’t stay empty—instead, the word off appears there.
Does anyone have a tip on how I can ensure that for all tracks that end in the same key as they start, the Key Text field remains empty instead of showing off? Or is the only way to do this by doing it individually for each relevant track?
