hi all,

I have z2 mixer that I bought on ebay a couple of years back. I have been using as a traditional mixer, but now want to upgrade to work with NI Traktor software. I have no idea where to begin. Can I get free download from NI (I don’t have the original owner license number)? or should I go straight to the current software version? any assist greatly appreciated

Hi Martin,

have you registered you device to your Native Instruments account? If yes you should have license for Traktor Scratch Pro 2 with it. But on newer versions of macOS (everything beyond macOS 10.14) there is no way to activate Traktor Pro 2 anymore - Native Access therefore doesn't even enable installation on newer macOS versions. But if registered you may still be eligible for a discounted upgrade to Traktor Pro 4.

If you want to try to register your Z2 to your account you have to contact NI support. You will likely need a proof of purchase and a picture of the hardware serial on device for this process. And there is no guarantee it will work as they often get in contact with previous owner to verify the sale.

Therefore I would suggest to get Traktor Pro 4 anyway. Z2 is class compliant therefore it doesn't need special drivers on macOS and should be recognized out of the box. Traktor Pro 4 is still supports Z2.
