PROBLEM
SAVE AS function opens, but won't allow renaming. Instead, when trying to rename, the computer just bleeps and shows a quick white haze and won't allow any typing input.
For anyone who might be having this problem, I found a work around.
SOLUTION
Instead of trying to enter any information when the SAVE AS dialog opens, just press "COMMAND & right arrow button" (which on MAC will bring you to an alternate desktop), then press "COMMAND & left arrow button" (which will bring you back to the main desktop). Now the "SAVE AS" function works.
Hope this helps if you've been having similar problems.
AI had this explanation:
Switching to an alternate desktop and back likely forces macOS to reset the application's graphical context and re-establish file system permissions. The white blink and ding indicate that Logic Pro or the Native Instruments plugin is momentarily losing its ability to write to the preset directory due to a graphics or security sandboxing glitch, common after macOS updates.
Changing desktops refreshes the system's security tokens and window server, temporarily resolving the block and allowing the save operation to proceed. This workaround confirms the issue is related to mac OS's security/permissions layer rather than a fundamental plugin or DAW problem.
Switching desktops doesn't reset sandbox permissions, but it triggers macOS to refresh the application's graphical and security context. When you switch spaces, the window server revalidates which application is in the foreground and may re-assert temporary security entitlements (like access to protected directories) that the DAW or plugin momentarily lost.
This often resolves a temporary glitch where the app's security token becomes stale or invalidated, allowing the save operation to proceed.
