S49 mk2 without transfer ID

I purchased a used s49 mk2 off of Facebook marketplace. The seller isn't the original owner, and I can't get a transfer ID. If I purchase komplete software, will I be able to use the keyboard to its fullest ability, or will I be restricted because of the hardware serial number?

I'm pretty sure you can use the MK2 hardware without having the transfer ID as long as you buy the software. Just to be sure, you can download the free version of Komplete Start from here - https://www.native-instruments.com/en/products/komplete/bundles/komplete-start/

That'll let you check that everything works ok without having to pay out for any additional software.

I can use the free version, but there's limitations. I don't want to buy komplete if I cant utilize all the functions/features. I'd rather just return the keyboard

Please contact N.I. Support (all) with proof of purchase and photo of serial on bottom of device and ask them to transfer the keyboard to your account. Support will then attempt to contact original owner to see if there is any hindrance for the transfer. If the transfer is successful then you ought also get a voucher to get a copy of Komplete Select 15 for free via the NI shop.

Please notice that when you get an AI auto-respond when making the ticket then it is required that you answer this email to let NI know that you still require help !

Then please follow the advice of mykejb : Get the the FREE Komplete Start and then download latest version of Native Access for your OS and install the Komplete Kontrol software (which installs keyboard drivers) and the rest of Komplete Start to test.

I have komplete start. The keyboard works, but I have read that if you don't transfer the ID, you can't fully utilize komplete standard 15 from the keyboard. That's my biggest concern.

If the MK2 keyboard works with Komplete Konrol and Kontakt Kontakt libraries through Komplete Kontrol (The S-Series MK2 will only work directly with Kontakt 7/8 as Midi device) then what supposed functionality demanded by Komplete 15 Standard "that you can't fully utilize from the keyboard" using MK2 now is your concern ? There should be none that you can not check using the free Komplete Start , if something works using Komplete Start then same functionality should also work using Komplete 15 Standard. Getting Komplete Standard 15 will merely give you more full versions version NI apps , plugins , Kontakt libraries and expansions.

If you want to check e.g. more plugins then get the free plugin bundle through PluginAlliance.

The S-Series MK2 basically has less functionality compared to the S-Series MK3 and no registration is going to change that. E.g. the MK3 can communicate directly with Kontakt 7/8. (though the MK2 has better Maschine integration compared to the MK3)
