Experienced DJ but Traktor noob here. In every other DJ software I've used (Rekordbox, Serato, DJay, Engine, etc) hot cues behave like play buttons. The usual workflow is:
- Load a track that has hot cues onto a deck.
- Tap a hot cue button to start playback from the position of the hotcue.
In Traktor Pro 4 this only works if the track is already playing, or if the play button is pressed while holding the hot cue button. If a track is loaded onto a deck but play has not been pressed yet, the hot cue acts as a momentary trigger. As long as the hot cue button is held the track plays, but when released track playback stops. This is far less than ideal as it removes at least half of normal hot cue functionality (and absolutely wrecks my workflow).
According to an internet search the only way to change hot cue behaviour is through midi mapping/coding.
Is this really the only way to make Traktor hot cues behave as regular hot cues and not as momentary triggers, or am I missing a setting somewhere?
If mapping/coding is the only way, can someone point me at a tutorial that explains/shows how to do so?
Thanks in advance, appreciate any helpful insight.
