I think I found a bug or at least a very inconsistent behavior in Traktor Pro 4.
I use the COMMENT field a lot for set preparation, with notes like:
!! do not play with track 23 !!!! works well with track 24 !!- transition notes
- BPM / sync notes
Problem
When I export a playlist as .nml, I can see that the exported playlist file contains track comments.
But when I import that playlist back into my own Traktor setup, comments are not restored reliably.
Typical behavior:
- some comments come back
- some comments do not
- sometimes only part of the comments from the exported playlist return
- comments may disappear again after restarting Traktor
- Traktor seems to prefer / merge data from
collection.nml in an unclear way
Why this is confusing
If I export a playlist and use it on another computer, I may recover more comments and cues.
But on my own machine, importing into an existing collection gives inconsistent results.
So it is unclear whether:
- playlist
.nml comments are supposed to be reliable - or
collection.nml always overrides them
Main question
Is this:
- a known bug
- expected behavior
- or a limitation of the Traktor collection design?
Feature request / suggestion
Please clarify the intended behavior for:
- playlist
.nml comments collection.nml priority- re-import of playlists into an existing collection
Because currently this feels unpredictable and risky for DJs who use comments seriously in set preparation.
