Oh no, there's an AI "assistant" in Native Access now.
After all the complaints about the AI support chatbot and replies from AI "employees"? 🙄
This is all we needed (and to make it even worse - there is an Alpha label on it?).
Any chance we could get a few sliders in Preferences to hide this AND the Discover area?
Also - with all the work that went into these last few NA updates - isn't there someone over there that can fix this nonsense:
When are these ancient "legacy" libraries (that I have zero interest in ever installing again) - going to disappear from my view? I clearly have the switch set to OFF.
VP
I have chosen to split this into it's own discussion since the topic was not directly related to the thread posted in and would have completely derailed the thread.
On the other hand then I find the topic as related to the N.A. update as such very appropriate.
.
In the way that the 'AI' has been presented at the moment then I agree with the 'oh no' , however then since I myself for a very long time have wished for N.A. to become far more aware of OS and use and also become able to self diagnose then I hope that that is where it is going in the long run (ability to self diagnose N.A. problems) , but I must say that in the way that it's being presented then it does not look like it will ever be a N.A: diagnostic tool but more like an attempt to push general first line support inquiries onto the desktop ( I myself have asked for N.A. to become more intelligent )
I agree it would be great if NA could check the status of customers apps before offering them updates which are not appropriate. Even though we have release notes, people don't check them but assume if it's offered it must be OK. People have old products installed, but believe any new update will still work…
Waiting for the rebranding from NI to AI (Artificial Instruments) 😁
It's not even listed in the Release Notes. And I know we're not supposed to talk about politics here, but… seeing to which certain company any information + input is sent (hint: it's Anthropic), and the fact that this feature was launched without any option to turn it off, really leaves a bitter taste overall.
Very disappointing.
"The fact that this feature was launched without any option to turn it off, really leaves a bitter taste overall"
All this will do (for me anyway) is make me stay farther and farther away from NA.
Not that I spend a lot of time in there now :)
And for the life of me - I cannot understand who would actually use this and for what? Support? Advice?
With the very obvious distaste for the NI Support experience in general around here in the last 2-3 years - it would benefit NI in leaps and bounds to make solid efforts to improving "real" support rather than wasting time and resource with this "Ai" slop.
Just another company following suit and pushing AI wherever they can in whatever capacity they can, as mandated by the overlords…. I mean, they couldn't manage their money so chances are moving forward much of the work and interactions will be delivered and handled by AI bots now. Only a matter of time before the NI mods here are replaced with AI agents
This is a bad idea and I despise that you are sending the info to a third party without gaining prior consent.
This is probably illegal in some countries, almost certainly in the EU. Make this an opt in feature before you get sued NI.
I just asked it a question and in part of the response it wrote about "looking ahead to 2024" so if it doesn't even know what year we're in, I wouldn't put much faith in it. 🤣
They unfortunately are digging the hole underneath themselves deeper and deeper…
I have pretty much stayed away from "doom and gloom" threads, but things like this pointless AI makes me depressed and worried.
On one of the AI systems I'm working on at the moment using openAI as the backend the AI didn't even have a clue what day it was. I had to push the current day into the prompts before it got it correct 100% of the time. So yeah, AI has a way to go.
And interestingly, it doesn't appear on the Mac version. Also, I'm pretty sure it was showing on my PC before the very last update was installed.
It's gone again! I just ran NA and the menu option has vanished.
My conspiracy theory is that the AI has been scanning the forums, decided everyone hated it and hid itself.
It was on my Mac version yesterday, it looks like they've reverted this.
Which is good! Thanks for listening NI.
