What's the point of allowing kontrol mk3 to work in maschine software when you cannot access the expansions.. since you get edit filters and effects. Why now just open it up fully.. makes zero sense at all.
Yep, we know… It was stated comically that basically not enough people used the KK MK2 with maschine for it to be worth the time to make the MK3 integratable. To me it seems more a lack of promotion rather than lack of interest but does seem weird to make a hardware keyboard that integrates with 3rd party software but not the main software from the actual company. Probably wont ever change either.
It is a mystery for sure. Then again, Maschine doesn’t support sftertouch the KK Mk3 has to offer…. So I guess things are even.
All I can say is there are reasons they went bankrupt and it wasn't from overpaying their programmers and designers since nothing of release in the last 4 years has been met with any excitement at all. Seems a lot of the actual creative folks who gave us the innovative products were canned or left for greener pastures long ago and the company has been running on just code keepers for some time. Restructuring and implementation of AI to do the work will finish off the rest as people slowly migrate away over the next 5 years.
The browser is partly based on Kontakt but just worse.
Nah, Matt said many times it was due to "their data metrics showing only a small number of users used KK with Maschine which did not make it worth the time and cost to integrate it". It would not take all that much to adapt the MK2 code for the MK3 to display at least browsing and loading of content and maybe basic transport and volume control like other DAWs.
There are guys out there who can do this kind of stuff solo, Moss who makes the bitwig optional driver for the KK keyboard for instance so I would be very concerned that a company like NI who should have tallent could not "figure out" how to make hardware they design work with software they design. That admission would fill no customer with confidence. Only need to take a geeze at the Beta group to see how unmanaged the whole thing is. There are still hundreds of open bugs for the KK V2 software which should have been archived or at least forked when the V3 software was released (this was even confirmed as needed when I raised it 2 years ago but…), it's just a mess and no one bothers posting there since you never get a reply anyway so NI just say "we have had no reports of that issue…". I for one have given up on that, KK is what it is and likely will not change or improve any further.
This have been the problems with this company they want you to buy one off devices per software.. kontrol mk3 been half baked almost 3 years later
it was mentioned that it would technically be hard to do , I don’t know why , maybe kk software uses a different browser system , even though they look the same , maybe technically it’s not possible, because the kontrol has 1 screen and maschine uses 2 .
It has one screen… that is bigger than the two maschine uses combined, so thats not the issue.. Keep in mind Mikros with the tiny screens can browse too.
In my opinion it would have helped that at least when kontrol mk3 was released weeks could have used it in both maschine & komplete kontrol software while they were developing and testing future updates.. alot of failures and as a consumer its hard to give a pass..
ok , I get your point , but they’d still have to combined the 2 screen view into one ,, can you full browse on the mikro , ie sub categories etc , I’d imagine they could do something like that , but , people would definitely moan about it ,a lot , lol
so why do you think it’s hard to do ? im sure if it was easy they would of done it , so there has to be a technical reason
I dont mean to be argumentative but I don't remember any mention of it being 'hard', afaik the thing was 'not many KKS users have Maschine for it to be worth our time' but with more PR/fancy wording. TBH, I can't imagine a high level corporate dev team finding it "hard" to display a browser on a HW made by the same company.
Then again, the active Maschine userbase is now probably half of what it was when the KKS-MK2 was released with its full Maschine support, which was considered to be "worth the time" unlike now with KKS MK3.
IMO the whole point of an eco-system is that things fully work with each other, for me, theres no valid aceptable excuse, this is the sort of thing that explains how we got to this point in NI's history with the finatial issues and whatnot.
im sure if it was easy they would of done it , so there has to be a technical reason
Lol… people asked for better Stop behavior for more than a decade, it was added in V3, it was just like 2 lines of code change, could not have taken more than 30 seconds if even I did it, so, it's not about being easy or hard. Here, check it > https://community.native-instruments.com/discussion/comment/188507#Comment_18850
there was a post a little while back from someone maybe Chris , someone was asking about adding the browser , that was the reply , I’ll see if I can find it ,
here you go , it wasn’t Chris , it was timrae , and it was trickier , not harder .
Browser support is a trickier one as AFAIK it requires a deep (i.e. expensive) architectural change in Maschine.
Anyways , I don’t think you’re being argumentative , I respect other peoples opinions.
Yeah I remember the original reasons, I kinda doubted them myself, but what do I know , I was not happy they dropped support for maschine , and I agree , the whole ecosystem matters, but I’ve learnt to live with it , kontrol mk3 is the second best keyboard for maschine , and the browser isn’t that important if you’ve got a mk3 , or maybe a mikro , atm I have a jam , so I’d find it useful, but as I have a jam I have to use the computer a lot anyway
Kontrol mk3? For maschine? Im not being argumentive but how when it doesn't work to full potential. If anytime is now to release something for maschine. As a consumer who bought alot of the NI controllers dont want to hear what's hard when the competition find ways its been almost 3 years for Kontrol and over 5 years for maschine + to not be 50% up to there potential.. thats all..
