X1 MK3 MIDI Mapping with Ableton Live

Question

Hi everybody,

I have been trying to Midi map Deck A of my X1 MK3 to Ableton Live, but it seems that Ableton Live is not reading my X1 MK3 as control surface device.

I set the X1 MK3 in Midi Mapping mode using Shift + top middle button on the controller, but I am just not able to have Ableton Live read the controls on the X1.

Probably because the TRAKTOR X1 MK3 is not listed in the control surface on Ableton Live Midi settings page.

Has anyone managed to do what I am trying to achieve?

Hi,

This is happening due to a limitation where one controller port cannot be assigned to a multiple app on a PC. YOu might want to use global midi controls, not ideal but will serve the purpose.

Additionally, if you don't use X1 on Traktor and Ableton at the same time then check your Preferences > MIDI and assign X1 at Input and Output.

You can "split" your controller into 2 "separate" controllers using MidiOx/MidiYoke.

It's not straight forwards, and it'll take some mapping to make it work, but it can be done.

In fact - there must be something similar but more recent than MidiOx out there???
