Struggling With Cubase 14 Integration & Routing

Hey guys - firstly, I really love the Micro Mk3. However, I cannot get it consistently working with Cubase 14.

I've gone through all of the relevant YouTube videos I can find. I can get a partial integration, but nothing that consistently works.

Is there a definitive guide somewhere? I did reach out to Native Instruments and they said there wasn't anything. I'm sure it shouldn't be this hard…

For the record, I'm adding Maschine Micro in as a VST instrument, changing: Group/Input = Manual, Group/Input/Source = None, Channel 1, Start Note C3 (no idea why this is important…), Thru = Off, Sounds/Input/Source = Default, Channel 1, Thru = off, Output/Destination = Host, Channel = 1, and Setting Sounds to MIDI Notes. In Cubase I'm setting the input to Maschine MIDI Events.

Currently with that setting I can play the instrument, I see the meters moving in Cubase, hear the sounds through the DAW when I play, and see MIDI events recorded. But when I play back, there's no sound, no meters moving etc…

Any thoughts? Sounds like I'm routing MIDI incorrectly, but everything is default in the DAW…

Cubase is an extremely advanced DAW and I myself do not know enough about it. But if I should try to look into this then I myself would probably need a number of screenshots with explanation of what you are doing there.

Usually then I do not delegate but if anyone should know enough about this then you would probably need the assistance of Uwe303 or @Sunborn , What do you think / say Sunborn ?

Hello,

do you record the midi notes into the instrument track/lane? Normally you should see the midi notes appear while recording and if you play it back it should then work.

This is what I see - as I play the pads of the Micro, I hear the sounds - that part works just fine, I can navigate the UI, select sounds fine, and it seems to record in Cubase (you can see the events). But when I play those events back, there's no sound, or meter activity.

I can not fully understand the problem right now, but, if this is Maschine Ext (External) is doesn't seem correct… unless you're driving some external hardware synth etc.

Also check if Midi In and Out are correctly configured and enabled.

One quick and good solution is to use the "All Midi" option, instead of just Maschine or anything else…

Now I see that you have set the midi source to default but it must be set to host as far as I remember, please check this and if it's not working I can have a look with my cubase 14 pro and maschine.
