Issues using my keypad in Cubase 15

Sorry if I come off as ignorant here. I have no clue at this point. I can use my s49 mk3 with Komplete Kontrol as a standalone and it is fine. Functions perfectly, same when using Kontakt 8. But for some reason when I load in Cubase 15, and attempt to open an instrument track with any plugin, Komplete Kontrol included I cannot use the Keybed. It won’t even recognize that I’m touching the keys although if I move through sounds using my mouse the sound is recognized through the S49. It also works to control the daw functions itself with no issues. I’ve followed the manual on how to setup inputs/outputs “midiin2 (Kontrol s49 mk3)” and “midiout2 (Kontrol s49 mk3) and it’s still got me nowhere. Is there anything that I am missing here? Thank you in advance for the help.

I'd go back to basics first with Cubase. You've probably been through these, but can't hurt to try again. Load one of the Steinberg synths like Retrologue into a track. Screenshots are from a Mac but Windows is pretty similar

1 - Check that either the record enable or monitor are enabled. If they're not enabled the track won't recognise MIDI input.

2 - In the track inspector check the routing and make sure that the MIDI input selector is set to either All MIDI Inputs or to the main MIDI device from the MK3. Also check that the channel selectors are both set to Any Input.

3 - If that still doesn't work check in the MIDI Port Setup section of Studio Setup and make sure the main MIDI device is visible and included in 'All MIDI'. You can also try using the Monitor window to check that you're getting input from the keyboard. To see the monitor windows click the little 5-pin MIDI icon under the Monitor column.

If none of those work let us know and we'll come up with something else :)

Is this the same if you open a new DAW project ?

What is your keyboard firmware version ?

Make sure that you are not using any folder that is under the control of a cloud drive (e.g. Documents using OneDrive)

Else then you should try reset Cubase preferences and do the setup again following these steps:

I reset Cubase, reloaded everything according to the link you sent and it has the same issue, unfortunately. The only change now is that on the bottom right of the daw you can see it’s recognizing that I’m pressing keys from the pad, it’s just not playing the note.

I feel so embarrassed. It was the record enable. lol. I haven’t been able to do anything pertaining to my studio or the equipment in nearly 2 years for health reasons so needless to say I’m a little rusty with the basics. Thank you very much my friend. Smh.
