Stems, handcraft and load them

Question

Hi Guys,

I have been trying to become more knowledgeable about Traktor and stems, as the results I get using Traktor onboard stem separation algorithm aren't always up to expectation.

My idea was to have a 40sec loop in traktor and by using stems create some variation during the rap battles I am hosting. It works in theory but in practice artefacts are definitely there.

I then downloaded the Stem Creator tool by Native Instruments to manually create stems combining Maschine, it seems that Stems Creator has been abandoned and never updated, I can not export the stem.mp4 file as I always get an error.

I then tried NuoStems which showed overall better stem separation, but the process looks long and it s a paid app.

So my questions, hope you can help:

* Do you know any tool that is not a prompt to manually create a stem.mp4 file?
* Does traktor have a way to load studio created stems?

tried the Nuo-Stems demo, and I think the conversion time was kind of long for a 40" mp3.

It also adds up the fact that Nuo is a third party app, so the funnel would be Maschine→Export from Maschine→Nuo-Stems→Traktor; no drag and drop from Maschine which I could use in NI's Stem Creator (if it worked correctly).

NI's Stem Creator also gives 1:1-ish master quality, as you are exporting stems straight from your DAW.

Does NUO support studio stems exported from your DAW?

Can you elaborate on what you mean by the Nuo-Stems process 'looks long'?

Nuo stems 4 can insert your stem file into the Traktor collection, there is very little effort to it, just fire up the app, select your tracks and leave it to process them.

RiPX has also NI mp4 stem format but it’s more expensive than nuo-stems… it has lot of production tools as “DAW”… maybe worth a look.
