So did you try attaching a power supply to the power port on the keyboard ?
The keyboard isn't recognized by Kompakt anymore or firmware update. Please help ! Thanks
From what I can see then you will have to start over with basic troubleshooting including power on state ? and drive check and so on. (you should probably also try using a self-powered USB-C hub as suggested in troubleshooting articles) :
My Komplete Kontrol Keyboard Does Not Start
Kontrol S-Series MK3 Troubleshooting Guide
Kontrol S-Series MK3: Troubleshooting Firmware Update Issues (appropriate trouble shooter even if not at firmware update step)
Then tells us state of things , what you have done and what fails where ?
.
If there was a message mentioning power it could be power delivery related. Are you using an external power supply into the power connector or powering from the single computer connector? If it's with a power supply it might be worth trying another PSU if you have one. If it's with the computer you could try using a PSU at the same time.
I tried with hub powered supply and also plugged to the Mac. Unfortunately, the keyboard stayed in default midi mode. It's not recognized anymore by Kontakt DAW or through Mac system report. Thanks
Does it show up in the Audio and MIDI devices app? If it does it might be worth removing it, restarting the Mac and plugging it in again.
Have you made any changes on the Mac side of things? OS update or anything? What's the Mac hardware and OS version please?
Another obvious question (please don't hit me…) - are you sure the Mac is connected to the data socket not the power? I'm pretty sure it is, but always worth checking, I've made that mistake myself before :)
I won't hit you ! I have a Macbook air M1 so with 2 thunderblots.
Please try uninstalling the HCS (hardware Connection Service) , then reboot , then try reinstalling the HCS.
OK thanks. Will try and keep you posted
done but still message add your serial thanks
Perhaps you have a cable problem or a problem with the port used , because the troubleshooter for After Registering My Kontrol S-Series MK3, I’m Still Asked to Add My Serial Number suggests installing the HCS.
Or the Hardware Service is maybe not running correctly even though you say that it is re(installed) ?
Ref. : Quote Matthew_NI :
Also make sure that the Hardware Connection Service is running and that the Kontrol MK3 can see it. Note that the hardware connection service should be started automatically when you open Komplete Kontrol software for example.
You can verify that the Kontrol Mk3 is connected to the HCS by going to Settings > general > agent version on the device, it should say version x.x.x . If it doesn't, try a different USB-C cable, and/or a USB-C hub instead of connecting directly.

Quote Mattew_NI 2025-04-23 :
NI Hardware Connection Service is necessary software for the keyboard to run.
Here are the first things you'd want to try, before anything else (including complaints):
That should work. If not, open Activity Monitor to ensure NI Hardware Connection Service is running.
Lastly, I see you are on an M1. It is possible the next message applies to you (but please follow the steps above first):
USB-C Connectivity Issue:
Problem:Some computer chip sets made between 2020 and 2023 have a known USB-C error that can't be fixed. This can cause sporadic problems with USB-C peripherals like the Kontrol S MK3, including connection failures, freezing, or issues with firmware updates.
Solution:If you experience these issues, try using a USB-C hub between your Kontrol S MK3 and your computer. This can help avoid the problem and ensure a stable connection. This is critically important during firmware updates, as data loss could cause broken firmware. Make sure the hub supports both power and data transfer.
Hi guys and thanks for your help. This morning I tried to plug again. Then in Native Access got a message about an update. I installed it. Then, the keyboard worked with Ableton. Got a message to update on keyboard screen. Then with AI try to understand. Answer was to update the keyboard firmware, I did it and then everything was fine. I guess that a fix has been done by Native. Cheers !
