Recently purchased a second hand S4 MK3. On the day of viewing there whereno issues. However since getting it home and setting it up i have noticed the following issue:
There is a loud distortion / cracking / popping noise on channels A&B when the inputs are set to EXT / Phono. At first i thought it was my technic 1210's , but after unplugging the noise is still there. So the sound is there even when nothing is plugged into the S4, even when the laptop is disconnected. I've looked at all the settings - input and output audio routing and nothing makes a difference. I have also tried upgrading from 3 to pro 4, setting it up on a different socket circuit in my house incase it was a "dirty' earth causing the issue. No joy.
Has anyone else experienced this? I'm starting to think it's a hardware (sound car/pre-amp)) issue?
Any advise or help would be appreciated. The Seller won't take the item back as he says it was fine when he had it. Also. it's really hard to contact NI, every timei go to submit a ticket it just brings up the auto chat bot and you go round in circles. Seems impossible to speak to a human in tech support.
