Mac studio
@mickturner As mentioned before by others here, you should keep all applications on the default location (system drive). For content you can move everything and then use the Add Product Content feature in Native Access
You can read all about it in this article: Using the Repair / Relocate Function in Native Access
Look for Locating Multiple Products.
Can I just move all the NI files off the Mac onto a hard drive then "repoint" NI to the external drive I moved them to.
Short answer - yes
Move the files into a folder on your external drive, then at the top of the Library page in Native Access you'll see a "repair all" button. That will let you repoint Native Access to the new folder location. There are recommendation for the external drive format here - https://support.native-instruments.com/hc/en-us/articles/214134545-Notes-on-Hard-Drive-Formats-on-Mac-Computers
You should only move 'Content' location and 'Download' location.
'Application' location and plugins (including already downloaded) should stay on system drive….

Using the Repair / Relocate All Function in Native Access
thanks. Is there a list of the operating files for Native Instruments that I must LEAVE on the operating HD?
or if I put a snapshot can someone tell me which ones to leave on. It's really hogging up my computer.
Sorry , I don't have a Mac. But in general then the plugins and what is in the Application location ought to be left where it is. (macOS: Macintosh HD > Applications > Native Instruments).
Content is Kontakt libraries and 'expansions'. (macOS: Macintosh HD > Users > Shared)
Check in Native Access preferences where the content has been loaded. You can move all the contents of that folder to your hard drive.
when you say content you mean the music I create. Are instruments "content."
By Content I mean NI content, Kontakt libraries, expansions, Reaktor instruments, etc…
Projects you made with your DAW have nothing to do with this.
Please check this article if you need further information: How to Change the Install Locations in Native Access
okay! Thanks! I followed the article and set all the locations including a custom location for the "content." Now do I move the content myself, or just reboot. I can't seem to find any further steps.
Thanks!
Now do I move the content myself, or just reboot. I can't seem to find any further steps.
Already installed content you have to move yourself , we/I already included links to support articles in the above… But remember to move rather than just copy from old to new else N.A. gets confused if the same Content exists at two different locations.
I pointed all the intstruments to the new drive and they are connected. But now the instruments won't open in Logic.
To see if it helps then
