What is best value MacBook to use ?

Hi Everyone, could anybody suggest what the best value MacBook to use? I have recently tracked down a Traktor Scratch A6 with the licence transfer from the previous owner. I’d hoped that I would be able to revive an old MacBook Pro I own with a CD drive ( a 2010 model) but unfortunately its IOS is too old to support Traktor or even Bandcamp ( where the digital tracks from my record purchases sit). Any advise on what to use would be really appreciated.

My non DVS set up is simply x2 technics 1200’s and my pioneer DJM 500, I really don’t want to use anything else but I’m keen to use a time coded vinyl set up at home. I’m a bit of an old technophobe too.😂

As you have to buy a new MacBook I would suggest to stay away from models still featuring an Intel chip (anything released before 2020). Most Intel Macs aren't supported with macOS 26 Tahoe (current version of macOS) anymore. The last Intel models will be dropped with macOS 27 this fall - maybe first models with Apple chips will be left behind with macOS 27 too.

If you want to use your new MacBook only for Traktor Pro. All models with Apple chip should have enough processing power. A MacBook Air should be perfectly sufficient. As M1 models should be losing support first I would recommend an M2 or newer model. Look out for models with enough internal memory for your music - you can connect external drives though but it is inconvenient with mobile computers.
