maschine mikro 2

Hi all im a student at nottingham trent university and studying a BA in music production. im looking to get get some cheap hardware including a synth but enough of that. i recently came across a post on ebay of someone selling the maschine mikro 2 and was wondering if theirs anything important id need to know before buying it if i do. the seller posts thats its in working condition but comes with no software?

Basically once the hardware is transferred to you (via the above process) you'll get the software package. The seller also gets to keep the software.

@PK The DJ unfortunately he also got it second hand i believe he didnt know of this process so he does not have the software. if i were to buy the software would it be the maschine 3 program or maschine central libary?

There was a post here recently from someone else in a similar situation. NI support managed to contact the original owner (who bought it new). Contact support and they'll see what they can do.

You won't be able to use Maschine 3 as they dropped support for Mikro MK2.

Avoid any used Maschine controllers that mention no software, or sellers that claim they dont know, or dont confirm they have a transfer ID ready.

AFAIK NI support can contact the original owner, but can't force them transfer the license if they refuse. Without the software, you pretty much have a generic MIDI controller. You might aswell buy an MPD at that point.

IDK what options support has in that case, you might need to buy a Sw license but for the extra cost a used controller with SW could be cheaper, not sure. Confirm that with support.

If you are on Mac, avoid controllers that are not supported by Maschine 3 anymore. If macOS breaks compatibility with Maschine 2 and NI decides not to fix it, you are screwed.
