I've seen many posts about this but I'm surprised the problem has not been identified and fixed yet.
Sometime last year, the collection stopped saving the contents of playlists. I've not changed anything other than update Traktor software when new releases are made available. If I import a new playlist, I see the contents, everything works as expected until I close Traktor and reopen. At this point, that playlist is now empty.
After being unable to import playlists for months, I sat down last night and spent a few hours figuring this out.
Whenever I import a playlist now, it seems all the folder paths of the <ENTRY> records in the new playlists of the saved collection now have a /: in front of the drive letter. All my previously imported playlists don't.
If I start Traktor with the extra /: the playlist will be empty but if I use a text editor to search and replace /:c:/: with c:/: and save the collection, the next time I start Traktor the contents of the playlist are present.
Now, after restarting Traktor and seeing the playlist entries present, the problem happens again when the collection is saved. If I then start Traktor again without modifying the collection again, it will save again without ANY entries in that playlist.
So what's causing this….. All the old collection and working entries have the drive letter as the volume and a volume ID and no drive letter in the <LOCATION DIR>
<LOCATION DIR="/:Users/:Administrator/:Music/:MP3/:Crates_PN/:Now That's What I Call Music/:Now 81/:"
FILE="08 - Flo Rida - Good Feeling.mp3"
VOLUME="C:"
VOLUMEID="64c754d9"/>
and my new entries have the /: and driver letter and no volume or ID set.
<LOCATION DIR="/:c:/:users/:administrator/:music/:mp3/:crates_pn/:pop/:2025/:"
FILE="huntr-x ft ejae, audrey nuna, rei ami & kpop demon hunters cast - takedown (dj precise acap out) (clean).mp3"
VOLUME=""
VOLUMEID=""/>
So if I now remove the /:c: and replace
VOLUME="" VOLUMEID=""
with
VOLUME="C:" VOLUMEID="64c754d9"
EVERYTHING WORKS. Each time I start Traktor, close and restart, all my new playlists work.
I don't know what setting would have caused this, I've not changed my config forever but I've attached it for reference.
If you search for "TikTok+Viral Hits OCT25v2" in the attached collection and look at the ENTRY records in that playlist, you'll see the extra /: and all the other records are ok.
Would love a fix for this as it's driven me insane and now I'm having to edit the collection constantly.
As I'm a software developer, my next goal is to write a parser that corrects the collection after I import new playlists so I don't have to edit all the entries.
Thanks
Andy
