Complete failure of midi and control surface S88 mk3

I have had the night from hell. I've had my S88 MK3 for a while, but was v busy with work so only now getting round to setting it up properly.

I've done 7 midi templates for some of my ext hardware and went well and worked well (-no NRPN). Today I started setting up Logic, but it has been impossible. I have followed all of the troubleshooting tips re using only Main midi, in DAW and KK/Kontakt, but the Kontrol surface function wouldn't activate except on a couple of occasions, but when I touch the knob controlling the faders they jumped to +6db and wouldn't respond to turning it down. I did all the recommended checks and settings in Logic, deleted prefs and tried a reinstall but no effect.

I noticed a post that said not to use Midi 2 with Logic so I switched to midi 1 and now the keybed transmits no midi data at all - not even to KK or Kontakt. I have tried switching back and forward and reset the keyboard, I got it to work once with Midi 2, but it is just once massive brick now and I am astounded at how flaky this is.

The midi template function was working just as it should, but the DAW integration is so unstable and now I have £1000 non-functioning keyboard. Any help of suggestions gratefully received.

If you've switched MIDI mode you need to unplug it, remove the keyboard from Audio MIDI setup then plug it in again or Logic gets confused. If you've already tried that and it doesn't work, let us know.

Thanks @mykejb that seems to have done the trick. For any others I changed to Midi 1 rebooted S88 as is required, deleted S88 from Audio/Midi devices, powered down S88, opened Logic, deleted Logic S88 control surface on start up, powered up S88 and generated new Logic S88 control surface and the DAW control was available on the S88 and knobs working as expected.

Ensure you remain in MIDI 1 until Logic better supports MIDI 2.

In addition; this instability may continue to happen unless you follow these steps (I see you're on M1):

Problem:

This is critically important during firmware updates, as data loss could cause broken firmware. Make sure the hub supports both power and data transfer.
