Komplete Kontrol S61 Mk2 Not Working

I recently updated to a newer MacBook, and my Komplete Kontrol keyboard no longer fully works. The keyboard part works fine, but all of the buttons up top (Play, Record, Mute, Solo, etc) won't light up or work. As far as I know, all software is up to date as well, so I'm not sure why it is not working.

Removing it from the MIDI studio and restarting seems to have worked! Thank you so much.

Have you install the Hardware Connection Service package from Native Access?

And what version of Komplete Kontrol are you using?

Be sure that you have downloaded and installed latest version of Native Access for your OS

As requested by vocal point then please confirm if you are using a MK2 keyboard (two screens) or a MK3 keyboard (one big screen).

If using a S61 MK2 then did you install Komplete Kontrol app ? and did you setup Audio and Midi in the Komplete Kontrol standalone app ?

If using a S61 MK3 then did you then install the Hardware Connection Service ? and did you setup Audio and Midi in the Komplete Kontrol standalone app ?

I have not installed that, and it doesn't appear in Native Access for me either since I have a MK2 keyboard. I have version 3.5.3 for Komplete Kontrol.

I have the most recent Native Accesss. I have an MK2 keyboard. I have the latest version of Komplete Kontrol too, and everything seems like is setup correctly in the standalone app.

I have a MKII as well - and I see the Hardware Connection Service in NA:

Now - I am still running Komplete Kontrol v2.9.6 with my MKII - as a personal preference - but that is still not stopping the connection service to appear.

What OS are your running?

Most likely some Mac settings possibly holding you back. Not a Mac user but I know there are a number of things that must be set exactly right before you get everything in Native Access to show.

Ranging from permissions to the network to allowing the OS to interact with installed apps like NA etc.

Hoping a Mac user chimes in and runs these down for you.

If everything is setup correctly in the standalone app then the keyboard should also work in the standalone app..

But perhaps you need to do the NI software on Mac basic setup also ?

Have you given ALL NI apps including NTKDaemon full disk access. (e.g. also Komplete Kontrol and your DAW?) ? : How to Enable Full Disk Access on macOS

And if using Sequoia then N.I. apps and DAW must be added to the Local Network (Ref.: Howto grant audio apps access to your local network on macOS 15 Sequoia)

Also then the MK2 does not need the "Hardware Connection Service" installed , it only needs the Komplete Kontrol app installed which should install the NIHardwareAgent and NIHostIntegrationAgent services.

You can also try the My Native Instruments Hardware Device is Not Recognized .

Agreed with Poorfellow on the above…but another question:

What do you see in your master NI account - here is mine:

As Poorfellow notes - we MKII users do not "need" the connection service - I believe that is for the MKIII units - but does your S61 show up as registered product in your account?

I am inclined to agree that this issue is MacOS holding back either the NIHardwareAgent and/or NIHostIntegrationAgent services from presenting themselves properly.

What software are you running where the buttons aren't lighting up? Are you running standalone apps or in a DAW? If it's a DAW which one?

My keyboard is under registered products, but hardware connection service is not listed anywhere. Is there a way to find and/or check on the NIHardwareAgent and NIHostIntegrationAgent to see if it's running properly?

I'm pretty sure the transport keys don't light up in standalone apps. At least they don't on my MK3 and I think it's the same for the MK2. Does the keyboard show up and work in Logic, at least for playing if not for the transport?

I don't have Mac so I can not tell if they are listed in the allow full disk access list ,

but they should be running !

In the above I suggested that you also tried the My Native Instruments Hardware Device is Not Recognized

did you try that troubleshooter as suggested ? Also notice the Mac section 5.
