Howdy,
searching for MIDI I found this, and I wonder how on earth you enabled MIDI out to your external hardware from the Maschine 3 software at all? If it has flaws, ok, but I wasn't able to figure out how to playback the notes I just recorded from my Nord Drum 3p to a normal group to exact the same external hardware since I want it's sound to be played back instead of a VST.
I thought using the Maschine software in combination with a Mikro mk3 to control transport etc could be cool to record some Nord Drum 3p input and then have it played back to practise some real drums on to to that - so quite a metronome on steroids :-)
So: how and WHERE could I route the MIDI output to the original ext. device?
The Mikro has no MIDI I/O but the larger Maschine hardware does.
You could just buy a cheap USB-MIDI dongle.
@PK The DJ that is not the point, my question is about the software. Of course the mikro has no MIDI but my computer has.
If your computer has MIDI (5 pin DIN) connections then that's how you route MIDI to external devices.
No @PK The DJ please read the context here, this is not useful. The software does not obviously allow you to route MIDI notes to an external device - at least I am not aware of how to do it in Maschine 3. It is not a question of hardware.
Of course it's not possible with just software. The OP has a Maschine MK3 which has MIDI sockets on the rear. Your Mikro does not have that, so you need either an audio interface with MIDI I/O or just a simple dongle.
Dude, again, I have an interface - how on earth should I've had recorded that f***ing midi data from my ext. hardware?
It is about HOW TO TELL MASCHINE 3 SOFTWARE TO OUTPUT THE MIDI DATA to my external device.
@Oliver Busse
bomes midi translator pro, is one of the best software solutions when dealing with midi in & midi out & having virtual ports to route between applications that utilise midi in & out
it has translation methods ie… keyboard to midi , encoders to knobs, encoders to keyboard press etc etc
midi note, midi cc filtering etc etc filtering, and many other functions as well
its versatile but at the same time requires a programming mind to get things working prooperly
Steve over in the Bomes forums provide great support… if the answer cannot be found within the forum itself
i personally mapped x2 Maschine Jam's to work with virtualDJfree which disables all midi controllers but allows for all assigned keyboard functions…
so you can imagine how useful midi to keyboard translations are!
Ok, I quit here. This is leading to nowhere. Just admit that it's not possible to route MIDI OUT using Maschine 3 software.
If you've got a MIDI interface, and you've used it to INPUT from a synth to Maschine, then simply reverse the process to send it out. Use the MIDI output.
Since you question clearly is not the same and since the thread you are posting in has been marked as solved then please open your own question in the Maschine sub-forum and include all relevant information…
.
To enable MIDI output to external hardware in Maschine 3, you need to follow a two-step process:
First, "activate" the physical MIDI port in your global settings, and then "route" the specific Sound or Group to that port.
Video below might help you.
the video posted should get you most of the way there , but you can setup drum machines differently than synths to utilise the 16 pad / sound group layout
Basically with a synth you’d use a sound slot and route the midi out from that , you can use that for a drum machine , and you’d use maschine in chromatic mode
but if you go to the group channel midi out settings , there’s a drumkit setting which automatically routes the 16 pads in group mode to individual midi notes , you just need to match the note between the software and hardware
Well first of all, no need to use this kind of language here.
It's actually very simple. You go to Prefereces > MIDI > Output and select your MIDI interface
And then it's all explained in the video sgared already. This is also mentioned in the manual, we would recommend to check it before cursing: https://www.native-instruments.com/ni-tech-manuals/maschine-software-manual/en/index-en
