Maschine MK3 assigning the same soundcard channel to several Maschine MK3 stereo outs (Ext1, Ext2 e)

Hi all,

My Maschine MK3 is connected to a Audient EVO16.

Let say I have the following assignments in the Maschine 3 software, Preferences, Audio, Outputs:

Ext1L to analog 1 of EVO

Ext1R to analog 2 of EVO

Ext2L to analog 3 of EVO

Ext2R to analog 4 of EVO

But as soon as I set:

Ext3L to analog 4 of EVO

Ext3R to analog 1 of EVO

The assignments that I made earlier for Ext1L and Ext2R are set to Not connected.

Is this a limitation of the Maschine, or should this be done somewhere else?

I believe maschine works on concurrent stereo pairs. so it looks for things in order. I think that is how it works by design

Hi thanks, but that isn't the case.

There is no problem setting the outputs like this:

Ext1L to Analog 6

Ext1R to Analog 3

Ext2L to Analog 5

Ext2R to Analog 4

This works perfect.

So there must be something else going on.

Hope that the real NI support is(not their chat bot) is also reading these groups.

It makes sense to me that if you've already assigned an output to an EVO channel, then assigning another output to the same channel will change the config.

i dont think its a limitation… rather thats how audio outputs are supposed to work

Hi, I still think that software should not do this and leave it up to me what I want.

I have 4 speakers in a room, and they are placed in a square.

Lets say, front left (1) and right (2), and back left (3) and right (4).

I want to be able to choose which pair of speakers I want to use for the output:

1 and 2

1 and 3

2 and 4

3 and 4

So all 4 speakers do have 2 possible configurations.

Don't tell me that a speaker can have only 1 input :)

But this is not possible right now due to the software limitations of Maschine 3.

I know this may sound silly, but hey we are not all the same :)

each of the Ext channels(external outputs) are stereo pairs,

ie ext1 = 1+2 , ext2 = 3+4, ext3 = 5+6, ext4 = 7+8 and so on

which means you cannot mix and match the Ext channels…. from within the preferences

you can however choose your External pairs on a group or sound level inside of the mixer…

whether you have x4 outputs on your Evo is another matter, which if you do, will likely be 1L + 1R & 2L + 2R,

so in theory you could duplicate groups &put each of the groups to EXT1 then pan1 group Left and another group to the Right effectively giving you 2 mono/stereo channels…

its a messy work around

if you are working on a M-series mac….

there is a software by Rogue Ameoba called loopback… which is very handy for routing, but it doesnt come cheap… i just made the purchase a week or so ago, and it has advantages when dealing with audio within software the doesnt have any outs… ie browsers, games etc which can then be routed into the any of the inputs of a DAW… such as Maschine,Ableton, Reaper etc

you can also route stereo pairs into a single left channel… or single right channel… on the outputs

couple loopback with the Free virtual Blackhole 64channels & it provides added virtual channels & alot of routing possibilities… especially when using Reaper as a audio hub!
