How can I access to K7 "compact view"?

Hello,

I used to play a lot with K7. Now that I'm about to receive a Kontrol S49 MK3, I decided to try K8. So I installed K8 player.

There are great improvements, but also some frustrating experiences, especially in terms of GUI.

In K7, when loading an instrument, you directly have access to a "compact view" where only the instrument takes place in the Kontakt GUI. In K8, there is always a black space under the instrument. I cannot manage to hide it. Am I missing something?

You can at least diminish the space in Kontatk 8 :

First switch to Classic view

Then use the little arrow in lower right of interface to drag size of interface Window upwards to as little as can get…

But there is a trick :

In Classic View , then at bottom right then right next to the keyboard icon then there is a mixer icon (it's not there in default view) , then click to show the mixer ,

Then in top right of mixer there is a small X to close mixer , click the little X

Once that you have closed the mixer that way then you can use the arrow in lover right side to drag Window upwards even smaller.

Then if the option 'Show full screen browser' is not selected then when you close the stand alone app and then open it again then the waste space size stays diminished.

I haven't bothered to check if it is the same for the plugin..

P.S:

Maybe this is all just an optical illusion where space gets redistributed between interface elements (?)

(Like there is an element shown both above and below in Classical View that takes up space and which is not there in Default View - which is/must be deducted from the previous was waste space)

Far too much fiddling around to get close to something that used to be one click to wrap the window perfectly to the size of the loaded instrument

Thanks for taking the time to explain the trick.

However, it looks the same in terms of spacing. The multi-rack header and the instrument header replace the useless space.

I have no idea why this feature was removed from Kontakt 8. For a while I would not update for this reason, however, it appears from reports that K8 is more stable and optimal than K7 on modern systems. I am using a Mac Studio M2 Max and would really like this feature back, along with the optimal benefit that K8 offers.

I have a nice ultrawidescreen, so it is not so much about the need for the space, but more because it wrapped nicely around the instrument. Much simpler for managing controls and interaction.

Then again, to be honest most UX decision baffle me these days.

I wonder if UX designers take classes titled "how to make something nobody wants and serves the complete opposite of the 'optimal experience' philosophy"
