How to Completely Disable Unused Instruments in Maschine+ to Save CPU?

Hi everyone,

I’m using Maschine+ (NI) as a drum machine controlled via Ableton Live on my Mac. Maschine+ is connected through a Focusrite audio interface, which sends the MIDI signal to Maschine+.

For one song, I’m only using one instrument within a Maschine project. At the moment, I’m soloing the instrument I need for each song, but the other instruments are still consuming CPU. From what I understand, soloing doesn’t fully stop MIDI/input signals from reaching the other instruments, so they remain active in the background.

Is there a way to completely deactivate or disable the unused instruments so they don’t consume any processing power?
For example, a way to bypass, unload, or fully mute them at the instrument or group level?

When you say "instrument" are you talking about a sound (one pad) or a group? If you're using it as a drum machine I'd assume you have a group of sounds, rather than just wanting to use one sound.

Also I suspect maybe you're using an existing preset rather than starting your own from scratch.

Yes you can of course delete any unwanted sounds or groups that you don't need. Details in the manual.

I’m indeed using Maschine+ as a drum machine, so each song uses one full group.

I don’t want to delete any groups, as I need to keep them available for other songs. What I’m looking for is a way to temporarily deactivate all groups except the one needed for a specific song, so the inactive groups don’t consume CPU or receive input.

That’s why soloing isn’t ideal in my case.

The way the Maschine+ OS works is, everything you have loaded up on pads is running and taking up resources, so it's ready to go when needed. The only way to free up CPU, RAM etc is to remove stuff.

Last question though: to control each sound separately, I'm currently using 16 different MIDI channels for one group of sounds (one per pad). Is there a way to use one single MIDI channel for a group of sounds, and have each sound (fixed to its respective original note) mapped to one specific note on that channel?

Even empty group consumes CPU resources, so its required to delete group to actually free them
