Hi everyone,
after many years I’d like to start using Traktor DVS again.
I stopped at Traktor Scratch Pro 2, so I’m quite out of date.

At the moment I own:

a Traktor Audio 4 DJ (which I know is no longer supported),
Traktor Scratch Pro 2 timecode vinyls,
a Pioneer DJ Interface 2 sound card,
a MacBook Air with M4 chip,
a Traktor Kontrol X1 MK2,
and I’d like to keep using my external rotary mixer.

What is the minimum equipment you would recommend to buy in order to start playing again?

I was thinking about getting Traktor Pro 4 with the new timecode vinyls and using the DJ Interface 2 as my audio interface, but I’m not sure if this setup is fully compatible.

With your TSP2 licence you should be eligible for a discounted upgrade to Traktor Pro 4. With this upgrade and your Pioneer DJ interface you should be ready to go. The old vinyls should still work - even if they are Mk1. There was a restriction in the past due to licensing issues but this should be gone by now. But if you have Mk1 vinyls this shouldn't matter anyway as you bought Traktor before the switch.

But new vinyls can make sense if your old ones aren't in good shape anymore.

EDIT: You didn't mention any turntables. If these are missing you will of course need a pair of those and cartridges.

Actually, I’ve already downloaded the trial version of Traktor Pro 4, but I’m having some issues with it.
At first everything seems to work fine…
then the timecode starts cutting out, speeding up — basically it becomes unstable.
Do you know if I might be doing something wrong?

Maybe your vinyls or needles are worn down? Pickup weight is set correctly? This can distort the timecode signal and cause such issues. How is the scope looking in Traktor Pro? You can lookup these in Traktor settings → Timecode Setup. Or you can activate them in Traktor settings → Decks Layout. Then they are shown constantly next to your decks.
